I went to Excision last night.  Totally freaking awesome. Bass cannon like crayzey. It only deepened my love for dubstep and bass.  There were 2 trap sets too...trap is alright but I really prefer dubstep in many ways, Trap kind of gets my goat if you know what i mean.

He donates a lot of the proceeds to charity.  I mean it isn't like he's gonna run out of money, and I doubt that place has a problem selling out.

Dinner prices look pretty standard to me.  Its a music venue, those places have a lot of overhead and always cost a decent amount of money to eat/drink there.  Maybe I've lived in the NYC area too much, but the only thing that seems pricey about that place is the ticket prices but considering they are benefits it really isn't that expensive.

yeah IK dunno man, its weird that its completley surrounded by car dealerships(infiniti, audi) and there is a yacht club behind it that they share parking with. the Valets that work there are all yacht club/country club looking rich kids and its just a weird vibe man. I figured if there ever was a dope grateful dead owned resteraunt/bar it would be in some cutty dope spot in the hills or some hip/delapetated part of town. not what I was expecting at all, I heard the food is super bomb though and people said it really is worth the prices because it's such good shit. I dunno though, place kinda tripped me out. I was on mushrooms the first night I was out front though and LSD the second, so maybe I was thinking about it too hard...

bobby plays solo shows for $25, phil plays for like $100. even if some is going to charity... it just seems odd. Maybe he needs another liver.

I wish I coulda seen Furthur in colorado in febuary, I heard that was a good run. I think the shows going on right now/the last few nights are probably dope too, my friends been posting pics and setlists on his fbook, looks like a good show. I just didn't have $65 to spend on each night and it definitely aint a place where you are gonna get miracled in unless you are REAL lucky.

maybe I'll give it a shot when I have more $$$.

I wouldn't spend $100 to see almost anyone play, but its a swanky place for older heads with money.  I saw Phil in Montclair and a few times through out the year and it was a lot of fun but it wasn't worth $65 bucks.  Hope to see Phil and Friends at GOTV rather than Furthur, I'm not too big into seeing Bobby play anymore as I think he's pretty inconsistent.  There are enough decent dead cover bands that cost a lot less but still play really well.  Why spend $65 to see a show that might suck when I can spend $15 to see a show that I know is going to be good.

I seen bobby play solo acoustic in december and with bruce hornsby at all good, I honestly have thought every show of his was better than phils, but I know what you mean about inconsistancies in furthur, he just stops playing sometimes. the solo acoustic he had to play shit right though because there was no one to back him up. Furthur's NYE shows are still fucking rad though, and I usually get in for free cause I know a lot of nice kids.

There will always be good dead cover bands playing for $15, phil aint gonna be alive much longer though, might as well see them as much as ya can. Shit, when foreigner or zztop played at the casino it was $80 and they dont play nearly as long or have as much shit going on as  $65 dead show.

Last time I went to see melvin and jgb they played in the Tenderloin and I ended up giving a kid $1 and to pay me back he put me in a damn k-hole so I ended up sitting on a fire hydrant out front the whole night while an old bum played hella dead songs on my guitar. It was fun though.

Only time I've seen phil and friends was at All Good, I was super beat by the time he played though and pretty much took a nap in the grass while he was playing.

Sorry for the rambling post, too many dabs this morning...

I'm gonna see JGB in a few months at Mighty High, DSO is doing 2 nights as well.  I also agree they are a better value than most larger acts, but their main member is dead and they are nowhere near as good without him.  I love seeing them and they are a reason to go to music festivals, I just have an issue paying more than 50 bucks to see anyone.  Also, I think Phil is going surprise everyone and outlive bobby.
