Do you wear daily/disposable contact lenses?
    #17906204 -

I've FINALLY gotten used to wearing contacts. It took me about 2 months to be able to build up to get used to wearing them for an entire day, so wearing contacts is a new thing for me.

I was talking to my sister about what she does with them when she takes them out and she says she usually just flicks them wherever. I found that weird so I asked several more people and they pretty much all said the same thing. Flick them on the carpet, throw them out the window of the car when they get home, wash them down the drain, flush them down the toilet. One person told me they flick them on the floor and their dogs usually eat them.

So.. Does everyone do this? Just ditch your contacts wherever and eventually vacuum/sweep them up?

I wear what I guess are monthly disposables, but in practice I usually just switch them out whenever I lose one.

I put them on over the sink every morning an it's usually not a month before I manage to drop one down the drain or on the floor or whatever.

It sucks when you drop one that's only a few days old and you know it's somewhere but you can't find it, of course, 'cause you don't have a contact lens in and then you  finally open a new one and put it in and there is the old one right in front of you.

The girl wears color changing contacts and leaves them in for weeks at a time.

When I first met her I thought she had blue eyes and I was madly in love with (them) her.

I found out later they were contacts and she laughs at me to this day for thinking I was dating the only black girl in the world with blue eyes.

I'm supposed to change my contacts every two weeks.  I used to go longer but my optometrist noticed

Sometimes I'll stick my old contacts onto my mirror-most of the time I flush them down the toilet or throw them away.

Yeah man if you wear contacts too long or wear them over night they can do a lot of damage (if they're not the new silicone hydragel lenses). If you don't take contacts out at night they build protein deposits on them which can fuck up your corneas.

Also, if you don't clean your lenses regularly (for monthly ones), can also fuck up your corneas because of protein deposits. People that leave them in way too long actually can cause their cornea to deform and cause permanent damage to the cornea which means permanent damage to your vision.

Unfortunately I know way too many people who fall asleep with contacts in night after night and wonder why their vision is getting worse. Take care of your eyeballs fools. They're more important than your teefs. At least you can get implants or dentures for your teefs. Eyes, not so much.

I just flick mine into the sink. I wear daily disposable contacts and I think they are a lot healthier than the week-1month ones!

I was on the monthly contacts for a while. Like you said, I would just wear them night after night.

I finally ended up getting lasik. I highly recommend you do some research into the field. My life has improved so much since I took the plunge. It's expensive, but 100% worth it, imo.

I had monthly contacts for a while ,  I always threw them in the trash or toilet or down the sink when I was done. I was supposed to take them out at night or after some set time , I don't remember , but there were times when I had no choice but to wear them for three or four days at a time. They hurt like a bitvh to take off and feel a little crispy on your eye , even when you use eye drops or whatever. it sucks when one gets a rip in it or some shit. Honestly I went back to glasses. It's too much of a pain in the ass.

I remember they tried to play me a few year later when I went to buy them they told me to change them every two weeks now instead of Every month and I'm all like "nah son they were working fine when they were a month and the doctors didn't make some breakthrough eye discoveries to know all of a sudden they should only be in a half a month instead". Word. Titties.

no way, contacts are too expensive! but i guess the daily/disposable ones are cheaper to account for how many you need in a month? i have no idea but i just have the "monthly" ones (never really heard them called that before) but i take them out each night and put them back in the next day. i don't even wear them every day actually

I wear the kind you change daily.
The only time I ever put them in random places or flick them is if I am passing out or just woke up from sleeping in them and about to fall back asleep but then I will find them the next day & throw them away.
Flicking them on the ground so your dog eats them is pretty fucking gross.
I'll normally put em in the trash before going to sleep.

I wear disposable contacts for a month or more without taking them out.  I know a few people who do.  It hurts my eyes more putting them in and taking them out every day.  I have acuvue oasys or something.  I'm on year 2 of what was a 1 year supply.  I wear them twice as long as recommended.

If one eye is sore, I'll take the contact out and leave it out for a few days.  I can manage pretty well with only one contact in.  I wore only one contact for a month or 2, til I finally made it to the optometrist.  The eye that hadn't had the contact in scored better than the year before on a vision test.  I'm near-sided and I was able to read a few lines down the chart more than i had.

If I sleep even one night with my contacts in (even fresh ones) I'll wake up with mucus caked over my eyelids. I take em out every night and use fresh ones about every month or so. And it's true: they're way too f-ing expensive!

yeah i used to always sleep with my contacts in but it started getting kinda gross. you know it's bad when you try to take them out and they kind of stick. now i can't even take a nap in them, it bothers me too much. i definitely don't use fresh ones every month..i go as long as i can which is probably more like 2 or 3 months cause i hate making that trip to the eye doctor. i figure since i rinse them off every night and stuff it's fine

I should be wearing glasses, but my vision isn't too bad... I don't even notice it most of the time. I just don't feel like getting used to my new pair, lol. Headaches

There was a lawsuit a while back about "Daily Wear" lenses. They were really the same as two-week lenses, with no other change than the marketing and packaging:
http://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/MR969/MR969.ch5.pdf

I treat my lenses very gently, and carefully clean them before each use, and so they last for about 30 days; pretty much until they start to irritate my eyes.

Also, don't sleep in them.

Lol I remember a girl who had got her contacts stuck in the back of her eye because she slept in them. She couldn't get them out herself so she had to go to a doctor.

I get this feeling that one of these days you're going to be making a thread somewhere along the lines of "WTF! My doctor said I need a corneal transplant!"
