People get herpes by having sex with someone who has the disease. “Having sex” means anal, vaginal, or oral sex. HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be found in and released from the sores that the viruses cause. The viruses can also be released from skin that does not appear to have a sore. Generally, a person can only get HSV-2 infection during sexual contact with someone who has a genital HSV-2 infection. Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.
HSV-1 can cause sores in the genital area and infections of the mouth and lips, so-called “fever blisters.” HSV-1 infection of the genitals is caused by mouth to genital or genital to genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection.

It is essentially confirming what I wrote here:

then why can HSV-1 be on your genitals also as your lips?

Because it can? Its normal break out spot is your lip area. Even though it is can be transferred to other areas (for example your eyes), it doesn't look like a HSV-2 infection. Genital herpes (HSV-2) looks quite different and their breakout spot is on the genitals and surrounding area. HSV-1 even if transferred to your genitals (which I am not 100% convinced on as even the medical community is not sure) would not spread to look like genital herpes (HSV-2) but would be confined to the one spot.

The OP has done so much research on this topic, I'm not sure why he's even asking for a second opinion.

Well, that, and the fact that when you google "herpes" this guy's picture will show up.
