Nothing to do during the daytime, the person I'm staying with has work all day. Definitely gonna go hunting, but other than that, what do? I wanna check out Haight-Ashbury

Walk across the Golden Gate!

Check out Berkeley and Oakland as well!

I'm actually staying in Oakland but I figured I would spend most of my time in San Fran. What is there to do in Oakland?

My favorite saying is, "The best thing about San Francisco is the view of it from across the Bay!"

There is really good underground music in Oakland.

Shoot the 49ers QB in the face.
Also Goldengate park is an incredible place.  The locals will not lead you astray.

Yeah actually near muir beach is a buddist monestary called green gulch. they do silent meditations on their farm in marin. From there you can walk to the beach.

There is also a secret hot spring on the beach in marin only accessible at low tide...

Figure out when and where Thee Oh Sees are playing, or Ty Segall, and go fucking see them.

Oh, Thee Oh Sees are in Australia right now. And Ty Segall is on tour.

Well, figure out where they play and go see a show.

First off, do you need bud? If so, go to the east most end of Golden Gate park right beside the Haight. You'll know who to ask. They've got psychedelics too. I only bought the bud there, though, and it was very good. Be sure to try to bring the price down - they'll ask 60 for an eighter, but I got 45.

The Haight is cool, although it's mostly hippy clothing/vintage clothing/headshops; which is cool and all, but if you've got nothing to get, it may get old. If you like music, go to Amoeba records. I spent hours there and came out with quite a few vinyls. Possibly the best record store in the USA People usually deal outside of Amoeba, too.

Fisherman's Wharf is a fucking tourist trap and I got out of there in an hour; but they have a lot of good food stands. Also, If you're an east coaster, get a burger from the Inn & Out. Like chocolate? Go to the ghiradeli factory.

Alcatraz is somewhat interesting, but again, it's a tourist trap. I got tired of my tour pretty quick. I'm never into tours though, so it could just be me.

Ocean Beach, on the west side of the city after Golden Gate park, is a really nice beach and often quite empty.

Chinatown is a really interesting place. It's basically a 2 minute bus ride to China. Eat at a place called "Delicious Dim Sum" - very good food and cheap. If you're unsure about what to get, you'll probably like everything

North Beach has a lot of very good Italian food if you're looking for a cafe or a nice meal.

Golden Gate Park itself is a very nice place. If you're the hiking kind, you'll have a blast there. I would go with weed, a book, and a bottle of water, and I'd be set for the day. The Japanese tea garden is beautiful and they have a pretty nice little restaurant. There's a science museum there, several lakes and lookout points -  look it up, there's a ton there.

If you like hiking (and trust me, if you don't, you still NEED to do this), go to the Lands End Trail. I've hiked in several notable places, and this still ranks in my top 5 hikes of all time. You're hiking along cliffs overlooking the ocean, and in a large portion of the hike, the golden gate bridge. You hike along a cutoff between lush forest and, well, a 50 foot drop to your death. You also have several opportunities to hike down, to the water.

Are you a Grateful Dead fan? If so, go to Terrapin Crossroads - it's a restaurant/music venue owned by Phil Lesh. Phil Lesh's kids, and sometimes Phil himself, put on concerts quite often. I went for the notability of the place, but it actually had good food. It's across the Golden Gate - not in San Fran - but it's feasible to get there with public transport and it's not too far at all.

While BART will bring you in from Oakland, you'll be using bus transportation (unless you have a rented car?), which is very easy. Busses go East/West, or north south. It's pretty simple and as long as you have a basic sense of direction, you will find it easy to navigate.

I can go on for a while about attractions but that's what tripadvisor is for. Enjoy your trip - San Fran is an awesome fucking city.
Also, avoid the Tenderloin district. It's west of Downtown, north of Market. I walked there on the way to a Furthur concert and I was pretty scared. I was approached by prostitutes, drug dealers, and plain old crackheads. I didn't see a tourist there and quickly realized why.. San Fran has a hobo problem in general, but outside of the Tenderloin they usually will leave you alone.

Lots! If you'd like to hit me on on face book you can search "Ian bunny" and you'll see me. Let me know if you'd like to add me and I can give you some suggestions. There are a lot of good eateries I can recommend along with seeing areas of the city. I've lived here for almost 3 years now

Check out Berkeley, especially the stores. Almost all the stores are local non-chain stores thanks to city rules. They have great book stores and good smoke shops. Just don't get your money taken at the smoke shops. Those guys are hard sellers to tourists. There's a lot of good restaurants in San Francisco.

Golden Gate Park is fucking badass, but I keep hearing from San Francisco natives that it's not very safe. Every time I've been there it was awesome though. Aside from that, walk around in the nicer parts, it's a great city to walk around in. Oh, and you might want to check out UC Berkeley's campus. It's a nice campus if you haven't seen it. Lots of walking.

Food on telegraph and college in Berkeley. Berkeley and SF botanical gardens. Inspiration point and grizzly peak. Don't know your age, but check out the college campuses. Lombard street in SF. Lawrence hall of science. Academy of sciences, drum circles and museum of modern art in golden gate park. Moe's books on telegraph. Peoples park has gone...downhill. But they grow their own vegetables.

Yeah, the SF botanical gardens are a must see. I lumped that in with golden gate park, but make sure you see the botanical gardens too! You won't regret it.
