Millions in pot and cash seized in
drug busts

Seven hundred fully-grown marijuana plants with a
street value of $14 million and $2.4 million in cash was
the total amount Hollywood police seized during
Thursday afternoon's drug busts in Hollywood and
Dania, police said.


Hollywood police Lt. Tony Rode said Thursday that the
tally was so large that officers would have to work late
through the night to weigh the pot and count the
money.

Eight of the busts took place in Hollywood. The one in
Dania Beach was in the same neighborhood where
Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne lives.

The suspects arrested were Robert Pelletier, Mark
Stephen Bettencourt,Robert M. Bettencourt of
Hollywood, and Micael R. Blood of Hallandale, police
said.

The homes and businesses where the pot and cash
were stashed - all expected to be seized through
forfeiture laws - have several million dollars in value,
police said.

That is some expensive ganja... If I did my math correct, 700 plants at one pound of bud per plant is 11,200 ounces of bud. At 14 million, that is $1,250 per ounce. Down here an expensive ounce is $400 and a cheap ounce is around $100.

In the US, the courts assume 1lb per plant regardless of size, sex, or age of the plant. Most plants that I have seen generate less than a pound.

I'm calling bullshit, no marijuana is really worth more than $50 USD for 1/8oz. and if you've payed more, you're getting ripped off. Theres no such thing as bud like G-13...
