Political yard signs and bumper stickers
    #16890872 -

What is the point of putting up political yard signs and bumper stickers?  All you're going to do is make your neighbor hate you.  All you're going to do is make the driver behind you hate you.

Have you ever been influenced by a political yard sign or bumper sticker?  No.  No one ever has.  So why do people use them?

Ahhh that brings back memories. When i was a kid we used to go around on our bikes at night and snag about 50 of those signs. Then put them all in one persons yard. Ah The good ol' days!

With all the studying that's been done on political campaigns, it's likely that if they didn't work... they wouldn't use them.

That said... I don't care for them.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. I don't mind them, it lets me know which of my neighbors are shit heads. Even if i support the candidate, put your fucking signs inside after they win or lose.

Yes, I have.  I looked up the candidate and tried to figure out why people liked him.  If the campaign is at all competent, you can usually then make a decision.  These have always been smaller race candidates or third parties, however.

I'll probably be rocking a Garry Johnson sign, to raise awareness amongst those who don't look into the candidates and try and raise the cognitive dissonance amongst those who know they want a more libertarian federal government but were thinking of voting for who they think will win rather than who they want to win.

Afaik bullying is very effective. A lot of people just want to fit in, so if all their neighbors vote for a retard chances are so will they. Because people are retards in general.

Okay, I guess I could see this working if people don't know the candidate.  I guess I was mostly thinking of Obama and Romney when I made this thread.  Everyone knows who they are.  But I doubt very seriously that someone is so on the fence, that he'd see an Obomney sign and say "Hmmm, I wasn't going to vote for him, but that sure is a convincing sign".

I think a lot of voters vote for the last name they see on a sign on their way to the polls cause that's all they remember.

Volume volume volume.  Yard signs and bumper stickers are cheap as shit.  Somebody doesn't understand the effectiveness of advertising just for the sheer name recognition effect.  Most voters are oblivious but sending a candidate's name out a million times is going to counter the other candidate sending out their name a million times.  If all someone sees driving down the road is Joe Dickfor then he will be more likely to pull the lever for Joe Dickfor.  If he sees a hundred signs for Joe Dickfor and a hundred signs for Mike Hunt, neither wins.  Capisce?

I hate those ugly signs. They don't convey any information besides Herp Derp vote fer me! Also, if it is sticking out on the sidewalk, someone is going to pull it out of the ground and shove it into your hedges.

These deer don't like signs either
