Wash DC Apartment Help

Looking for some advice from people who live in the area (I don't know how many we have here). I've got a job in the District (southern part) and I'm planning on living in Alexandria or Arlington. If anyone is from the area, would you recommend living there or going further out? As for Alexandria/Arlington, can anyone make any suggestions for a nice apartment (WITHOUT insects of any kind).
Happy 4th and thanks...

Insects are pretty much the same around here, regardless of where you live in a 50 mile radius of DC. The insects aren't terrible, really.
It all depends on how much $$$ you have and what you want to spend on rent a month. You can go sky-high or ghetto low, all depends on price.

well as with all major cities, it's bloody expensive, cost of living is high, crime is high, bums on the streets are high-off crack. and so on. Arlington and Alexandria are pretty nice places to live. I used to live in Alexandria about seven years ago, near mount Vernon. nice quaint suburbia, with pretty good proximity to the city. Then again, if I was a millionaire, I'd find a nice town house in Georgetown.

Arlington and Alexandria is for the most part, expensive as fuck.. being two miles from DC. Anything inside the beltway is gonna be about the same.. average 1 bedroom apartment around here goes for $1,000-$1,400 a month for just rent. I live in Falls Church. If you want to find a cheap apartment, yer gonna have to go south about 20 miles, to the centreville/chantilly area. The only thing that sucks about that is the commute... but shitloads of people do it everyday.

as well as the shitty summer weather, the crass, impolite population, the proximity to Ground Zero, the cost of living, the quality of life, etc.
Someone needs to burn down DC and start the fuck over...

Heh.. hasn't it already been burned down twice since it started? once by the British and again in the 70s? I think it just needs to be submerged....
I gotta move to the mountains or some shit.. I'm tired of this area.
