Post some of your fond memories of going to arcades

Did you frequent arcades in the good ol days? man they were fun, especially if you were a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s like me. What did you play? X-Men, Simpsons? Maybe Dragon's Lair?

To me it was all about Metal Slug, specifically 3. I love those games to death and I still play them to this day. RAWKIT LAWN-CHAIR

YES!

My local arena had a room with a few games. The ones I played religiously were centipede and some King Kong game where you smash all the buildings in a city and fuck up all the people. I wish I could remember the name.

We realized at a young age that we could unplug it and plug it back in to get free games. Then everyone started smoking pot and nobody wanted to play the games anymore :frown:

Time Crisis. Others may have used the idea later, but I'm pretty certain this concept originated with Time Crisis. The third one is my favorite.

I also loved Metal Slug and The Simpsons game you mentioned, OP. However, the only time I saw The Simpsons game was at a Chuck E. Cheese, so I only got to play it once a year at my cousin's birthday party. Then the bastard turned 18 and now I don't get to go to Chuck E. Cheese, at all. :sad:

Not only did I use to play arcade games but I actually use to BECOME them. This was most evident with enough pacman games to immediately make me eat every meatball ever layed out in front of me.

I remember I was at a mini arcade inside of Jellystone Resort and these two fat kids were working hard at busting this bouncy ball dispenser. And eventually they did. They got the top part of the machine off and you could reach into the dispenser and grab balls haha.

Of course, I really remember the Pizza parlor days of my youth.
Tron, Galaga, Dig Dug, Zaxxon, Centipede, Crystal Castle, Rampage, Tempest, Pole Position, and Donkey Kong.

Oh, I can't forget Gauntlet, Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road, Super Sprint,  Pole Position, Spy Hunter, Outrun amd NARC.

Most of those games where from the weekly trips to the pizza parlor, I loved those days. It was pretty much weekly from my 6th year of live to my mid teens.

I made my mom laugh about a year ago. We went out to pizza and I looked over at the pitiful arcade then back to her and said, "mom... can I have a quarter?"

Don't get me wrong I hate Dragon's Lair too. Fuck that game indeed. it just came to mind because I always saw it in the arcades, it was very popular. the graphics caught everyones eye at the time

to me its all about Metal Slug, House of the dead, mortal kombat and freakin pinball machines.
