Simpsons conspiracy
    #1314935 - 02/17/03 06:33 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

It's almost as if there's a conspiracy against The Simpsons.

Where I live, they show old Simpsons episodes VERY rarely. They'll show them around Halloween or Christmas ot you very rarely see the old episodes that had so much social and political commentary.

Also, season 3, the season in which the Simpsons begin getting really clever is taking forever to come out on DVD.

Seasons 3-9......where are you?

I was noticing the same thing on sunday. I realized that I haven't seen a lot of my favorite episodes for years. What gives Fox?

I notice this as well. I can draw an analogy with what SNL's Comedy Central decides to air.I hardly ever see any old late 80's early 90's cast episodes, and never see any eddie murphey, bill murray 70's cast episodes. Mostley new cast crap from the late 90's (exception to anything involving Will Ferrell) Probably because Lorne Michaels only lets Comedy Central play new cast episodes to promote the present season (if you see Horatio Sanz and Chris katan enough times, they might seem funny) The Simpsons have been under new mangement for the last 6-7 seasons when Groneng and Brooks and Conan O'Brein all jumped ship by the mid to late 90's. A new producer and write staff took over and the Simpsons have slid down in quality ever since. EDIT: However it is still better than anything on TV today. Maybe FOX wants to promote the newer episodes to support the new staff and therefor encourage local TV stations to torment us with the last 4 seasons in constant reruns. Christ... I kinda went long winded with this rant...

"Probably because Lorne Michaels only lets Comedy Central play new cast episodes to promote the present season "

No, probably because newer episodes get higher ratings.

It's almost as if someone told the creators of The Simpsons to "tone it down" after Season 8 or 9, and also to not play old episodes that make a mockery of government and religion etc..

All you see now are the new episodes that appeal to the sense of humor of an 8 year old.

If they released all the DVD sets at once, only hardcore fans would buy them all.
But by releasing them one at a time, more people buy them.

A few years tops....Don't get me wrong, I absolutly LOVE the Simpson's. It's my favourite show to watch. I look forward every day when it's on. I see all different kinds of seasons on tv here. Lots of great episodes, but they have been getting a bit risque with the content of the shows, at least that's what some people say, but I think they should just leave the writers of the Simpsons alone and give them some credit for some great writing....some of the latest episodes, and a few years back, are kinda losing their edge, but it's still funny. One liners make you howl for a good 5 minutes (like me) and other episodes make you laugh pretty much through the whole thing so hard you're crying and your sides hurt. (also me haha) and then the episodes are a bit dull.....they are running out of ideas and i think they should get the viewers to write in ideas for a show and pick the best 22 for a season and see how that turns out. I think it would be great and they'd go on for longer if that happened....we'll see though.

That's a great idea, but if even the professional writers are having a hard time, I doubt Joe Q. Simpsons Fan could come up with an original idea even to START the show with.

Seems like as the show has progressed through the seasons they've started adding and subsequently abandoning more and more sub-plots per show just to get to whatever they end the episode with....

But who knows?
Maybe if every devoted fan (at least 21 years old) that was inspired to set aside a few hours and really focus on it might come up with something that the writers could expand on?

I'd say I'm pretty creative. I could maybe write a story for the Simpsons, but not guaranteed they'd like it, but who knows, maybe I"ll write up a story line and shit, and the writers can work with it....I'm around 21  Maybe I'll e-mail the people who deal with the Simpsons and ideas and shit and see what happens...maybe other people can do it and see what kind of twisted, hilarious minds we have in North America haha.
