Words meanings often evolve beyond their roots and historical context.  Awful always seems bad to me, but awesome can go either way.

I must have missed the joke, I was being dead serious.  I can never get enough of a good thing unless it turns out to be a bad thing, in which case moderation or abstinence is key.

Why is extraordinary good?

It sounds like its either really really ordinary or its merely outside of the ordinary, which could be good or bad

English is stupid yo

It's extra ordinary, just like extra pepperoni and cheese on a pizza.  That's what I think, anyway :awesome:

Biological Advantage of Being Awestruck:

Adapting this lens, awful and awesome do not differ in such a dynamic degree; something that is deeply disturbing is awful because it provides the opportunity to contemplate the darker side of things.
One could be made full of awe over the atrocities the human species has committed over time; this can provide one with the motivation to work toward more positive things.
One could be exposed to awe over some of the more positive human interactions and be motivated in a similar manner.

They both come from inspiring awe.

I would guess that something that inspires awe more fully would have an element of fear or despair (like a salvia trip) than something that only inspires "some" awe. Some is not a threat compared to full. If it's not a threat it's good, if it's dangerous it's bad.

Bloodsheen, extraordinary is obvious. You think ordinary means good? Ordinary. Status quo. Common. Drab. This is not good stuff.

No, ordinary doesn't mean good. Which is why being EXTRA ordinary would be really dull.

Or extra meaning outside of, and being outside of ordinary isn't necessarily good either.

Like, if you like to fuck pigs, your sexuality is outside of the ordinary. But your sexuality isn't extraordinary, you are just odd

I'm gonna guess this is the same as awe. There was a time when it would considered extraordinary to fuck a pig but over time the meaning came to mean above and beyond the norm, just as awesome did.

And this is retarded. "Some" doesn't mean "just a few," it means "of." As in "loathsome," it doesn't mean "just a few loath-s" it means "of loathing" or "having 'loath'" if you will.

Your entomology is weak sir

Okay, "of awe" is still not as strong as full of awe. The point is it's weaker. Lol I don't know why the distinction was made(im taking a guess) but I do know they originated meaning the same thing and then awful became associated with danger and fear and awesome didnt. Why is that? Seems pretty obvious that awful would be the one with an association with dread. "of awe" or "full of awe" Which one sounds more like a threat or something to fear or despair about?

In the same way that awesome doesn't mean "some awe", extraordinary doesn't mean "extra ordinary". Extra means beyond. Like Nietzsche's book "on truth and lies in an extra-moral sense".
