they have to be the most horrid, annoying 'musical' instrument ever created...

I don't get why people would ever go out of their way to hear them... it's like a bag of dying fucking cats scratching a blackboard as they die a terrible gruesome death from being squished by some fat dude with blown out cheeks in a skirt :P

The Bagpipes are a beautiful instrument. Its pure rebel music.. They would play it in the scottish hills and the English could hear it for fucking MILES.. Bagpipes really carry far.

I'm not a big fan of Scottish pipes, but I like the Irish ones. Not as loud and I like the tone better. It's possible to play a few chords on them too.

Yeah I tried to switch it to a plain link when I realized that but it still wanted to embed it for some reason. Worth checking out though IMO. They are indeed also called uilleann pipes, I think you have the right spelling. I believe there are other bagpipe types that use bellows instead of the player's breath as with highland pipes.

uilleann pipes are so soothing and entrancing...here is an example from WoW lol, it gives such a good atmosphere.
