Problem with Popcorn

Less then a week ago skip the dog made up some 1 pint jars using the popcorn tek. There is still no visable growth but skip believes the popcorn isnt water saturated enough. Is there any hope for adding water via a sterilized needle or should he just start over.

I wouldnt worry about the moisture content. AFOAF had 2 jars from the same batch of popcorn. One was inoculated with Golden Teachers, and the other with B+. The Golden Teachers are now about 30% colonized after over a week. It took a while to see any growth at all. The B+ haven't had any growth at all. I'm assuming that my spores were either not viable, or just are taking longer to get going. Morale of the story is, stick with it, it can take some time to get going.

i've had extremely good luck with popcorn, and have had growth 4 days after injection with every try. and once it starts it grows like crazy

what's your temp?

keep it between 83 & 86....

Yea, at correct temps it should be about 4 days until growth is seen. My temps are more around 65-70. Gotta build an incubator soon to get those temps up. Thats why my colonization times are considerably slower. Your problems are probably due to temps, as mine are.

in my case, 90% col. in a week with the right moisture and temp...

You soak popcorn for a day, boil or PC for 1 hour, PC in jars for 1 hour (draining not nescessary). That will colonize in one week at about 87f (higher temps help it slightly) and using a polyfill lid filter or tyvek filter patch. Best of luck.

that's exactly what i do but i boil tha popcorn for 20 min. then soak it for 24 hours then....
