Abbie Hoffman is in Forrest Gump!

Before I thought that he just MIGHT be.. but now after I saw some more pictures of the real him i'm pretty sure he's the guy with the american flag shirt at the washington monument who swears alot part of the movie.

Am I right ?

Yeah-that guy is supposed to be Abbie Hoffman.

When I first when the title to this thread, I read "Albert Hofmann." Got me a bit excited.

yeah! :smile:  Just noticing that now?  Abbie is in a lot of things...ever see that episode of the Simpsons where they replace Itchy & Scratchy with 70's educational music cartoons?  There is a part in the cartoon where there is a guy burning a flag...I'm pretty sure thats supposed to be Abbie too!  And in another episode of The Simpsons, the one where Homer's mother comes back, shes on the couch reading "Steal This Book".  Those are the two I can think of off the top of my head but I know I've seen Abbie references in other places too.

yes...I thought that was a given. I hope Crass didn't think the guy in the movie actually was Abbie....no...it was SUPPOSED to be Abbie....but alas, Abbie is no longer with us. Goddamn we could sure use him now!

No it's actor Richard D'Alessandro.
Abbie Hoffmans been dead since 1989.

I just meant its his 'character' in there, I thought it was him before but I wasn't absolutley sure... and wow I never saw those things in the simpsons, i'll look more next time I see those episodes. (Havnt been watching them alot latley).

He OD'd on about 400 barbituates. I think it's because he knew his time was past,and his sort of vision was long gone, no one was listening to him any more.

He moved to New Hope PA not long before he killed himself, a town about 10 minutes from my town. I saw him at a movie theater when I was a kid, he was there to see Full Metal Jacket, and I followed him into the bathroom to talk to him, but he seemed out of it and sort of ignored me.

When he died it was big news at home, because he lived near by. Some left wing groups tried to make his suicide out to be some sort of right wing assasination conspiracy, but no one listened to that sort of nonesense. He was an old burnout and a joke, no one was trying to kill him to repress his opinions, since no one listened to his opinions anymore. That's why he ate the bullit in the first place.
