Firework Modifiying

Its 4th of July! And its time to lite up some fireworks!

Ans sometimes stock fireworks have a little hidden secret within them.

Which is why I enjoy modifying fireworks. Anyone else enjoying modding their fireworks?

So far, i found only 1 firework that can sucessfully be modded. Its called Piccolo Petes.

Its a whistling fountain that makes a very loud "screech" sound. This high-powered screeching fountain has enough powrr to be modded into a rocket with report, a small explosive, or a combination of both.

It is hard to choose if it will be a rocket or a bomb, or a combo of both, but thats part of the fun!

So, to mod the Petes, heres what you do....

1) Break off the red fountain base with pilers

2) Use either a large rock, heavy-duty pilers/channel-lock wrench, or a hammer (or all of them) to soften the middle of the Pete. Some powder might fall out the top, this is normal.

3) From experience, i have found that the softer the body of the fountain is, the more likely it will explode. If you make it just ssoft enough, but not too soft, you can make a rocket. Its hard to get right, but it can be done.

4) Lite in a safe place with lots of room, cause they are unpredictable and can explode like a small bomb.

Nah, but that does sounds like a good way to blow yourself up.  :lol:

If you want a rocket, why not just buy a rocket?  :shrug:

I actually had a small fountain explode on me yesterday.  It was from last year, but who knows if that had anything to do with it or if it was just defective.

I love fireworks.  Happy fourth of July!

I tried to make bigger firecrackers before. I'd just use the flash powder from several put together. It's hard to do better than the ones you buy though, and a lot safer not to screw around with them too much. I got a nasty burn from trying to do it myself once and I'm done. I'd rather just just spend the money on an A box from American fireworks and have fun setting them off.

i burned off part of my right eyebrow yesterday from lighting black powder with a lighter :derp: i had been drinking and feel like a horses ass today.

I modify fireworks all the time, sparkler bombs are the shit to make too.

Wow, sparkler bombs. That sounds cool. i will have to try that some time. Can you give a little basic recipe on how to make them?

And as for just buying rockets, they dont allow them in Oregon. But i did happen to get some good ones from Washington. Man, they got the serious ones up there! Aerials, roman candles, the little rocket battery boxes. I love it! wish i had like $100 to spend on them, i would! i only had $22, but still got some good stuff.

Oh, and i had the recipe wrong for the Piccolo Petes. Its actually soft = exploding bombs. They suck as little bombs, they're just loud. So I ruin all my "rockets' by making them too soft. I left 3 untouched, i might try again and set them off somewhere remote. So, to be clear, very semi-soft is best. Not too soft or they will exploded!

Next year, $100 in Washington for the GOOD STUFF. Plus some "Rocket" Piccolo Petes done (right this time) too ; D

And I will hopefully be on Mushrooms, its a nite perfect for them. :mushroom2:

whisting petes can be unwrapped, and their grey powder added to the dry base of a bottom of a water bottle, or other sealable receptacle. make a hole in the cap for the wick to be pushed through then cap it off.

powder from 2 whistlers will make a pretty good boom.
