Looking for a few Virtual Synthizers
    #1639403 - 06/17/03 10:30 AM (20 years, 9 months ago)

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone could tell me the names of some good virtual synthesizers. I'm thinking of producing some music and I'm looking for software. I've played with fruity loops and I'm looking for something a little more advanced.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,
Lana

in fruityloops you can load VST modules  (virtual synths).
there are many of them out there... some free, some not.
some of my favorites are FM-7, Junglist, and the Juno X2.

to use them, install the synth to your FruityLoops/Plugins/VST folder and then in fruity go to the "Channels" menu and "Add One".. from there you'll see a box listing the VST and Direct X modules you can open.  you may have to hit "refresh" down at the bottom of that box to see the new ones you've installed.

Soulseek is great for finding plugins.. SimSynth (comes with fruityloops) is actually pretty cool too if you get it *AhEM* "Working Functionally" (again, SoulSeek )  so you can save your presets.

Some good free VSTi's are Godkiller, mindkiller, and a couple other "killers" I forget. I can hook you up with a pay VSTi if you want, I can Email it to you, Pentagon I, I love that thing!
Other than that, Cubasis is good if you have some imput hardware. It also is compatable with VSTi's.

WOW, great info!  Thanks!  And keep it comin'

I have Native Instruments... I think.  I got it but haven't installed it yet.  Any of you know of a page that lists VST's ?

Thanks again!
Lana

native instruments is a company, they make lots of plugins.. which ones do you have? If yo're talking about progams to be used in creating your tunes, I'd advise against fruity loops. Acid Pro 4 is a far better program!

Reason is a blast... hard to find on Kazaa though.

Soundmind beat me to it, but another vote for Reason. Especially if you can find 2.5. Cubase is probably more powerful if you add all the plugins, but Reason is a lot more pleasant to use. And the moveable patch cables on the back of the devices allow for an endless variety of really strange sounds.

I've found Reason 2.0+ on shareaza, it's 1.4gb though for the 3 iso images zipped.

I think there's a huge list of vst stuff on http://www.hitsquad.com/ some of which is freeware some shareware, and check http://www.audiomidi.com for a list of things you could look up on p2p.
