I quit using steak sauce * 1

I have found that the taste of meat if cooked right is much better than using a bunch of sauce to cover up the taste of the meat.

Anyone else give up on steak sauce?

I've only been firmilar with A1 steak sauce.

I believe I need some recipes for steak sauce:shrug:

Something less salty and more complimenting the flavor of the steak.

Pretty much the only time I use steak sauce is if I am forced to eat shitty steak, like at Golden Corral.  That place is disgusting.  The one time I went there, there was shit all over the bathroom walls.  Sometimes I use steak sauce on other foods such as chicken.

Never was a fan of steak sauce.  Proper seasoning/rub is all thats needed.

I love steak sauce.  It complements the taste of the steak nicely.  That said, I'm more interested in the steak's texture than it's taste which I find to be somewhat bland.

but seriously, i've been using a mixture of epic steak porportions. i'll share my secrets



onions, mushrooms, butter, veggie oil, celery salt, oregano, black pepper, cilantro, and flour.

I use A1 on steaks that I don't cook myself.

I'm a firm believer that if the meat is good and it's cooked right, it should need NO seasoning, sauce, marinade, extra crap. I'm a purist.

Now my friend used to give me shit about it. He used to rag on me about how he read in a fuckin magazine that 80% of Americans marinade their steak or other meat. FUCK THAT. And he's the kinda guy that will throw a cheap cut of walmart meat in a ziplock bag with all sorts of shit and then cook it on a george foreman grill until it's hard as a rock and call it "THE BEST STEAK HE EVER HAD".

I grilled one up for him a few years ago, a sirloin from a local meat distributor (fuck buying grocery store meat) to perfection and used just a little bit of cracked pepper, medium rare....

His reaction... "it's ok", when you could see in his eyes and face that it was the best fucking steak he ever tasted. He was just too arrogant to admit it.

it depends on the steak. if i'm going white trash style i'll put some worchester on the meat with salt, pepper and maybe some garlic and mix hunt's ketchup with the vietnamese shit that turns your guts into lava to dip it sparingly in along with my fries.

Well if you're talking about slow cooked pork butt or ribs, bbq sauce is a completely different matter.

As far as a steak goes, if the meat is of great quality and cooked as well as it can be, there's no need for anything extra.

Whenever I cook shitty walmart steaks at home in a pan with some olive oil, I use A1. However, my dad raised me NEVER to use A1 to defile the savory taste of a grilled filet. Whenever we grilled, we bought from the local fresh market, and the meat is top notch. I don't think you could make that meat taste bad if you tried.

But since he left my life a while ago a good grilled filet has been few and far between and I have often found myself going for the buy one get one free bottles of A1 alongside the shitty walmart serloins.

Oh well.

I hate BBQ sauce for some reason. I just love when you get a steak and it is seasoned right. A1 will cover up the taste of the meat and you end up eating salty shit.

I'm starting to enjoy eating the meat without all the extra additives.

I hear ya dude. My aunt and uncle used to raise grass fed steer. Talk about GOOD meat. I've been to fuckin Ruth's Chris and paid 60 bucks for a steak that wasn't as good as the stuff I'd get for free.

And Ruth's Chris is like the epitome of restaurant steaks.

i don't use steak sauce as a garnish, but i do marinate my steaks before cooking and tenderize them. it makes a steak x10 better. sear at high heat on each side then lower heat and finish off cooking. then rest it for like 5 minutes and bam. delicious steak
