Giving Beggars Money?

So where do you stand on this? Do you give beggars money?

I currently don't give them anything in public structures(train stations, bus stations, subways, etc.) because some of them can get violent when they get desperate. They could pose a threat to a woman or elderly person, and so I don't want to encourage them to come around.

Those on the street I sometimes throw a buck to.

I give em booze. Always keep a pint in the car just for that purpose.

Only if they earn it.
I dont give cash to anyone sitting on a stoop with a hat out.
I give cash to someone playing an instrument whether they are playing shitty or not. At least they are trying to earn some cash :shrug:

It depends what they look like , if they look like drug addicts or alcoholics no I wont support your addiction with my money.
If they look homeless and are just fucked in their situation I will give them some change ,

I always give them my change in my pocket.

With that being sad, there isn't many homeless people in my area. It's a rarity.

There is a traffic circle in the city where a few bums will post up with signs.

There was a homeless guy crying, he had no sign, but I could tell he was homeless.

I asked what was wrong and he just "I'm recently homeless, and I don't know where I'm going to sleep tonight."

I gave him directions to the nearest mission, and told him they had plenty of beds open. They always do.

I also gave him 2$ to go to burger king ( Across the street from where he was ) to get a burger.

He shook my hand, and thanked me.

I see it this way. If I was on the street, I would feel blessed if someone gave me some hope... or some of their loose change that's just going to sit in the center console of their car for ages.

but that's just me. Humanity is dying slowly imo. I'd like to see that "change."

I don't go out of my way to give them cash. But if somebody has the balls to ask, I'll give them whatever change is in my pocket. Unfortunately for them I rarely use physical money anymore.

And I reward honesty. I fell for the 'I need $20 to get gas to take my sick grandma to the hospital, I'll come back and pay you back....'
I'd rather give my change to someone who says 'yea I'm having a rough time I could use a smoke'

That being said, if they dont look well off or to happy and they ask the right way I will give them anything form the change in my pocket to a crisp 10.

I never give them money, but Id be more than happy to have them walk to the nearest fast food joint around us and id buy them 5 bucks worth of dollar menu food like Ive done in the past.

Shoulda seen the look on this old homeless mans face when he asked me to buy him a Mcdouble from Mcdonalds for a dollar and I gave him a bag of 8 cheeseburgers instead with a large powerade. He looked like he just hit the lotto
