I played the Skirmish D-day game in 2008 I think. It was a blast. It was the year that the allies won.

The last day I was with a squad of around 10-12 guys. We were walking through the woods and all of the sudden the commander stops walking and puts his hands up. Everybody is confused but then 10 guys stood up. They had surrounded us. We all gave up and got taken as prisoners somewhere I think. We we got back into the game we found a cache of "oil barrels" worth 50 points each per minute or something like that. Well we found something like 20 barrels and with only 2 hours left in the game we were down and needed these points bad. Some guy had hedge clippers and cut down a lane that they would have to run through to get to the barrels. We built up stick bunkers and laid down. For the next two hours we didn't get up as we defended the barrels and ended up winning the game for the allies. That game was a blast.

I played with a group called Farmland that was all older guys with mainly pump guns, Played a couple of 10-ball tourneys, we were sponsored by Red Bull. I had some good times playing paintball. My most used marker was a PGP from the 80's. I wish I knew where it was, I lent it to my friend and he lost it. I'm actually going to go out again in June for the first time in years. I'm pretty excited.

I worked at skirmish for 2-3 years.. I think I worked D-Day twice.

If anyone thinks paint wipers are bad in an acre sized course, imagine how bad it is at a 4,000 person event on 100 some acres. :rofl:

I refused to ref at skirmish because you get people from New York, Philly, and NJ who think it is funny to shoot the guy making sure the game is played fairly.

Oh man, that sucks. I forgot, I worked as a ref at a paintball field for a season. The worst was taking one to the back of the head from 5 feet away at 10:00 in the morning. I don't think anybody ever shot me on purpose though. It was a fun job.

Oh man, years ago I was teaching my friend how to play woodsball and he accidentally discharged his gun. It hit the side of my neck and ear from about 7-10ft away. Fucking HURT.

Now here's where it gets bad. It was like 40 degrees outside.

I've had massive car accidents that have hurt less than that.

Yeah, man the cheating was just unstoppable at skirmish. Not nearly enough refs and if the refs only sent you back to your starting point instead of clipping that card thing, then the person would always just get out of sight and then quickly pop back into play.

But shit, those starting battles when the makeshift boat doors were let down was insane. Everyone instantly got lit up. Pretty fun though

And I think I did the skirmish in 2008 as well. Idk about you guys, but it was hilarious running into the french guys a few times. We would be fighting some french at one point, and then be working with them the next hour.

Wait, just remembered. I think it was 2008 in PA for dday when at like 1-2 AM the germans started marching around the campsites yelling some stuff in german and then the USA guys got together in a huge group and was chanting back. At one point going "USA, what is your profession?!" with an instant response of "Huah, huah, huah"

300 had recently come out so everyone knew how to respond. It was a blast.

I think I worked there from 2002 to 2004.

Everyone there is on some sort of drugs, and if they aren't they are just fucking crazy.

Shit, the first time I got LSD was from a co-worker at Skirmish. :rofl:

If you think the D-Day event is a nightmare, imagine how crazy it gets for the refs involved.. Maybe if they didn't get wasted during the events it would go smoother.

Fuck skirmish. :smilingpuppy:

Actually I remember when I worked there one of the employees got arrested for plotting to blow up some nationwide gas pipe line.. he was on the internet talking to the FBI thinking he was talking to Al-Qaeda. ROFL.

Fun as hell... every job I worked at I needed saturdays and sundays off for paintball... Use to play on yamato n 441 all the time.... And for those that wipe it's ok..... it's usually the shitty players that wipe.. except a few others.... That's when I used to take my cash money impulse and rain heavy on them a hopper full....    My advice.... always go with pink paint.... Its very hard to wipe off and clean and also you get to color people up in pink.. stands out.....  On a side note I am thinking about selling all my equipment since I haven't played in over 3 years...
