My first tattoo idea...would appreciate input!

I plan on getting my first tattoo here in the next few weeks. First let me say I am willing to drop whatever money it takes on this mother fucker because I want it to look bad ass. I'm not sure where I am going to get it but it definitely won't be forearms due to job.

One of my favorite songs of all time is "Electric Wizard" by Electric Wizard. I am essentially depicting whats going on in this song with some added features of all of which I am not sure of yet.

So far I am envisioning a dragon flying through space. Upon this dragon is a wizard (think old epic looking wizard like Gandalf). Behind the wizard will be a 3 man band, guitarist/vocals, bassist, and drums just fucking rocking out. The wizard is casting some massive spell creating what looks like a wormhole in which the dragon is about to fly into. I want all kinds of crazy colors and shit on this bitch. Fractal sound waves coming up from the band and a third eye on the dragon and wizard.

  I cant have anything directly drug related due to my job. (example pot symbol) I work for the fire department so I will be seen shirtless by the wrong person eventually whether I like it or not. The tattoo to me represents my love of doom metal and fantasy, whether it be getting sucked into a book, a song, movie, ect. It also serves as a reminder to the days when I could dabble in marijuana and psychedelics care free (the band is a stoner doom metal band). I love visualizing music and I think this song tells a fucking awesome story.

Here are some pictures I might give to the artist to help him draw something up. (Lord Master Hoffman picture is kinda what I would like sound waves coming off band to look like)

If you guys have any cool suggestions let me know.

Sounds awsome as fuck  :rockon: make sure you get somebody talented to do it. Its a fuucking shame that tattoos are frowned upon in the working world or id definately get something sick on my forearm, i think alot more people would have tattoos if they could get jobs still , and if a lot of people had them it wouldnt be frowned upon. Makes no sense to me

Totally agree with you. And I think the hardest part of this will be which artist I choose to do it. I plan on doing a lot of research though so hopefully Ill get the right one.

Sounds awesome. Find someone who charges a lot and is good work. The more expensive, the better 99% of the time.

I've heard that too. The more expensive the better? That tattoo sounds like it'll turn out AWESOME. Sounds like it'll have soul to it. I like back tattoos. I have one I don't like and am fixing it. The best part is at least I didn't have to look at since I didn't like it. I am getting a new tattoo soon as well. It's a tribute to my son. Always get a tattoo that represents fundamental you cause that shit is definitely permanent. 10 years after getting poison ivy on me, I realize that could suck!

In order to charge that much and expect to get work they have to have reputation and previous work. In order to charge that much you have to work in a reputable shop.


You get what you pay for, just like a car. I pay $160 a hour and she's the cheapest in the shop but her work is top notch.

Went to an artist that I was referred to by some friends and told him what I want. I let him know I wanted this thing to look fucking pristine and that money was not an issue and he seemed like he was pretty confident he could get me what i want.His portfolio looked pretty sick as well. I'm going in Saturday to get some drawings done and potentially the outline started. Hes charging $100 an hour and I'm guessing hell be putting about 10-15 hours into it over the course of the next couple months.
