Compare Washington state to Denmark? (climate)
    #16120097 -

Looking into what mushrooms I should try growing outsite, and heard that Washington and Denmark where compared climatewise. If it is, it is just looking into a Stamets book to see what hes growing, to find out

Have grown azurescens a couple of years ago, and thinking about getting into some shiitaki and oysters outside.

I can see that the hardiness zone is about the same, but curious if anyone have lived in/visited both places and got any comments on it?

I've not been to Denmark but I've been to the Netherlands/Norway (probably fairly similar climate?) and I live in Washington... The climate between the two is very similar - temperate spring/fall with tons of precipitation namely - I believe you may find success in your endeavors :awesome:

I've been to Denmark and I can tell you it gets fucking cold in the winter, from -15°C to -30°C (-30° being -22F if I'm not mistaken)

Definetly not the same thing as the Netherlands. Don't know about WA though, never been there.

It's rarely that cold here. Even in western Jutland where I live.

Cant have been that cold, nothing colder then -31ºC (-23.8ºF) have ever been measured here.

coldest within the last couple of years was around -23ºC (-9.4ºF)

Two years ago it got as low as -40°C. Last winter was better but we still had -30°C for a few days.

Thought you were talking about Denmark

It feels cold here because of all the moisture in the air. 2°C feels far worse then -10°C in the Norwegian mountains

It really depends on the region. Washington really doesn't share one climate.

So asking if the climate is the same as a different places will only lead to confusion.
