Henry Miller, Cocaine, and Motivation
    #16080277 -

After another day of laziness and boredom, we had decided to enhance our evening by sniffing a half gram of blow between the two of us. In order to have a somewhat smooth ride toward bedtime, we supplemented the coke with generous amounts of wine, beer, cigarettes, and cannabis products. The ensuing euphoria inspired me to write down a daily timetable for myself in an attempt to eradicate the crippling lack of motivation that seems to have taken over my life as of late (who said cocaine was destructive?!).
The timetable includes one hour of writing in the morning (which is exactly why I am writing at this very moment) as well as an hour at night. It also includes a couple workout sessions, healthy eating, and the intake of various superfoods. This schedule is in part influenced by a post I recently came across titled Henry Miller's Work Schedule 1932-1933 which follows:

1. Work on one thing at a time until finished.
2. Start no more new books. Add no more new material to “Black Spring.”
3. Don't be nervous. Work calmly, joyously, recklessly on whatever is in hand.
4. Work according to program and not according to mood. Stop at the appointed time!
5. When you can't create you can work.
6. Cement a little everyday, rather than add new fertilizers.
7. Keep human! See people, go places, drink if you feel like it.
8. Don't be a draught-horse! Work with pleasure only.
9. Discard the program when you feel like it—but go back to it the next day. Concentrate. Narrow down. Exclude.
10. Forget the books you want to write. Think only of the book you are writing.
11. Write first and always. Painting, music, friends, cinema, all these come afterwards.

Seeing as how Henry Miller has produced some of the most inspiring writings I have ever had the pleasure of reading, I saw this list as a valuable find worthy of immediate integration into my own life. In fact I will probably be scanning this list every time I sit down to write. And that will hopefully be at least twice a day from now on.
I have seven minutes left until the next time slot in my timetable begins. That would be a two hours in which I am supposed to take my dog Kirby for a long walk and then, upon my return, tidy up the apartment.
Today is going to be a good day. I can barely notice my slightly pounding headache and parched throat which, now that I think about it, are small prices to pay for my new and improved take on life.

These a good tips.

Also, creating yourself a schedule will stimulate your motivation, especially if you are actually doing progress.

Finally, quit the blow (If you can)
