Trick fucked? Santorum dug his own grave with his own comments. He paraded himself as the socially conservative republican candidate and was banking that would win him the election. It didn't, because the republican voting base is only primarily made up of evangelists in the shitty states where he beat Romney (Mississippi, Alabama, etc.) I don't see how you can blame anyone but Santorum. Playing the values ticket was his whole campaign!

You missed his "therefore". He was suggesting that the left trick-fucked many independents and women into thinking that Romney holds the same attributes that Santorum exhibited during the campaign.

Because the choice is between him and Obama, who - in case you haven't noticed - has done exactly squat to reform America's drug laws. And, of course, there is far more at stake than drug prohibition. Single issue voters are fundamentally unserious people.

Yep. Romney vs Gingrich. And Gingrich has no chance in hell of catching Romney. Romney will be the Republican candidate. This is the closest thing to a sure bet you will ever see in politics.

His message has never been obscured. It's just not enough to win him the nomination. Ronulans seem unable to understand this self-evident fact.

Even if this is true, it's not enough. Romney will be the candidate.

I think RP sticks it out due to his desire to get his message out there and to show he's got guts in spite of the odds which will help him down the road in 4 or 8 more years. He could well make it to president one day.

- OK, the fact that I'm practically a federal criminal for smoking weed is actually a pretty serious issue, so I think you're mistaken when you claim that I'm not serious. Additionally, I also support Ron Paul for many of his stances, such as the common sense he displays when he describes free market economics and how they work better than the masked capitalism we have to this day. I also support his foreign policy of nonintervention. -

- Yes, it has been obscured. I can't begin to tell you how many times they never mention Ron Paul in the news, yet they mention Gingrich's sorry ass as if he's the real deal. How is Ron Paul's message on foreign policy, liberty, and sound money not enough to win the nomination? He's clearly popular enough in the online and straw polls. Plus having an 8,000 + crowd of passionate supporters is no small feat as well. I also wonder why Ron Paul receives more military donations than any other candidate, if his message "isn't enough." Maybe it's not enough to you... maybe you can't see the those self-evident facts.-

People said similar things about Ronald Reagan, and they ended up eating their words. You're not going to dissuade us.

Seriously? I mean, WTF... seriously???? In the spring of the year 2012, with pretty much any piece of information you could possibly need just seconds away, you really want to lob that high hanging floater up there for anyone with an IQ higher than pocket lint to hit out of the park?

Okay, then. Here's your assignment. Look up on the internet the date of Ronald Reagan's birth. Next, look up the date of the election which gave him his second term. Apply basic grade school arithmetic to these two dates. Then tell us how old he was when he won re-election.

I said single-issue voters aren't to be taken seriously. In the face of all the other existential challenges Obama has aimed against the US, the continuing existence of drug prohibition legislation that has been around longer than any of us reading this thread have been alive is a relatively trivial matter. Especially considering the president cannot repeal any of this legislation anyway. Before you go all ballistic over my use of the phrase "relatively trivial", be advised that I am on record in this forum many times as supporting the repeal of criminalization of all drugs - from meth to smack to coke and more. All of it. That doesn't change the fact that anyone who uses even a tiny bit of common sense can use that stuff for a lifetime and not get caught. Getting busted for smoking weed is a lot easier to avoid than inflation, taxation, out of control regulatory agencies, and more.

In the overall scheme of things, drug prohibition is a sideshow. Literally.

Additionally, I also support Ron Paul for many of his stances...

So do I. So what? It doesn't matter. Paul will not be on the ballot this year. Not going to happen. So you can accept that fact and move on to Plan B, or you can throw a hissy fit that your hero didn't do the impossible and by throwing away your vote increase the odds of the most anti-Ron Paul politician in the history of America winning a second term. Why is that so hard for you to grasp?

It doesn't matter. Paul will not get the nomination. Nor will Gingrich. It's over. Romney will be the candidate.

Because it isn't. It's the same message he flogged last time around, too. It's not enough. That message might work, maybe, if it were being delivered by someone else. But maybe not even then. It certainly hasn't worked when being delivered by Paul.

Quote:
He's clearly popular enough in the online and straw polls.

Straw polls are jokes that have no meaning. Online polls are even worse. They are worse than meaningless.

So what? Small feat or big feat, it's not enough. Romney will be on the ballot, not Paul.

Quote:

Again, it doesn't matter. None of that matters. Having a great set of policies, getting more donations from individuals in the military than the other candidates, winning meaningless straw polls... doesn't matter. It wasn't enough. Maybe it should have been enough. Maybe in some alternate universe it might be enough. Maybe ten years ago it might have been enough. Maybe ten years from now it might be enough. So what? The fact remains that regardless of what I think of Ron Paul, he will not be on the ballot. I accept reality and plan accordingly. You do not.

Quote:
His popularity is spreading whether people like it or not...

Even if this is true, it's not enough. Romney will be the candidate.

Quote:
Even if that were the case, I stated before that I will lay down my vote for Ron Paul win or lose.

And I have stated before that if you are registered to vote in a swing state, throwing your vote away in that manner will increase the chances of the candidate who is the furthest thing imaginable from Paul on every issue worth talking about winning re-election.

Quote:
Candidate or not, do you think Romney can pull off a win if Paul goes third party?

He won't go third party.

There is no "separation of church and state" to abolish...That's not, and has never been, in the constitution...In fact, the second amendment establishment and exercise clauses didn't even apply to the states until the 1940's.  Before that time, states were free to outlaw a particular religion, or make an official religion for the state...

In addition, why would you post some video of a guy whining about Ron Paul?  Make your own argument...

P.S.  I don't agree with much of Ron Paul's policies, but he's dead on right about Roe v. Wade...That was decided wrongly and based on another piss poor decision in Griswold.

Exactly what is your point? The amendments are all valid to the constitution as the original section of the constitution. To value something that is in opposition to the separation of church and state is inherently antagonistic to the modern concept of liberty.

In other words, you yourself don't formulate an argument, but put forth somebody else's argument about Roe Vs. Wade, then badger somebody else for using somebody else's argument?

Jesus, first you want to make divorce illegal, and then you want to get rid of Roe Vs. Wade. You're supporting a fucking creation scientist/fundamentalist Christian, and you don't seriously think that his religious beliefs shaped his opinion about Roe Vs. Wade? What possible rational thing could he plausibly have to say about Roe Vs. Wade that would justify overturning it?

Another of your typical emotional responses...

1. Separation of church and state is not a concept that was ever included in any part of the constitution...that phrase comes from an entirely different source...And if you looked into it, you would know that the incorporation of the establishment clause was a very dubious decision by the court.

2. Saying that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided has NOTHING to do with an opinion about abortion, creationism, or christianity...I am a pro-choice atheist who believes in evolution...BUT, Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided.  If you want to know why, then you need to understand Griswold and how it plays into it...I'll be glad to explain it to you, but not in this thread about Santorum dropping out.  There are plenty of rational legal scholars who believe as I do about Roe and Griswold...and religion isn't a part of the argument.
