For those who have been to Shambhala

So my friend last night called me up with a surprise, I went over to his place and found in my hand a ticket to Shambhala. He's really excited to have all his best friends there, because he actually plans to propose to his wonderful girlfriend at Shamb and wants us to all be there for it.

The thing is, I won't actually turn 19 for a few months after Shamb, and this year they took the chaperone program away. I'm going to go regardless because there is no way I am missing this for my friend and for myself, but for those who have been to Shamb, what is the gate security like?

From what my friend described he has never been ID'd at Shamb but they also plan to step the security up this year. I can probably figure out some way to solve this problem, but I'm just a little nervous about how this is going to play out. Anyone with experience from Shambhala want to give me some input?

since Shambhala doesn't actually exist (that we know of) where are you actually going?

if you do make it to shambhala, try not to be torn apart by the guardians

from what i have been told... they dont sell booze there and ur not supose to bring any.  Its all about the drugs at sham!  so why would u need a ID>?

Yeah, it's a booze free zone, but it's still a 19+ event. Used to be you had to have a chaperone but they took away the chaperone program this year.

is it really 19+, or are you actually underage? If not, 19 seems like a really weird arbitrary number, why not 18?

Check the site, it's 19+, which is the legal drinking age in BC (18-year olds are still considered minors). It reall doesn't make much sense that they enforce it on an alcohol-free event, but I think the liquor and gambling association stepped in.

I live in the next province over where the age is 18, it varies depending on where you are in Canada.
