Yup....2009 was a legit set


I haven't heard the set from this year yet...






I saw Excision & Datsik a while back, they did a 2.5 hour set together...Their set was horrible, it didn't flow what so ever, & sounded like complete shit IMO. Probably the worse live set I've heard, ever...


And a couple weeks before that i saw Datsik throw down a 1.5 hour set...It was alright, nothing special...





Downlink had a good set when i saw em' live ....Gonna be seeing Vaski in a couple weeks, interested to see what he does.

I gotta give him props though, Excision can put out some killer tracks. Mostly what I hear in this mix is that wobbly, resonated "bass" (even though it frequents mostly in the mid range), but that is how alot of newcomers get into dubstep. I'd say dub like this is good in small doses.

The whole "brostep" thing, I can only take so much of it. I mean sure it's great for dancing and getting down to, but even then, you can only drop it so many times then it just becomes .






And you are right, the more brostep-ish sounds of Datsik/Excision/etc is what brings newcomers into dubstep. But at the same time i think it's what turns a lot of people off and makes people laugh at dubstep, unfortunately they hear these more mainstream sounds of dubstep and get the impression that all dubstep is robot sounds and squelchy wobbles...



When in reality there are lots of other really really good producers out there that have more of a creative and original sound more true to what Dubstep sorta used to be IMO...DJG, Djunya, Ital Tek, Starkey, Headhunter, Distance, 2562, Kito, Vaccine, etc....
