Re: Why I still use the Oxford Comma [Re: DieCommie]

The fully classical version of English, which includes no slang or colloquialisms is commonly known as Queen's English, it is essentially a reference to English that is structurally and grammatically accurate.

I always use the oxford comma, it is really bothersome to read text that does not use it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Italians/Dutch/French/Germans etc didn't use the Oxford comma, as the construct of their languages is entirely different..

Not sure about the Germans and the bankrupt guys, but I know that the 'Oxford comma' in Dutch would actually be wrong. That's why Dutch people proofreading English texts will sometimes mark it as wrong (I had my professor do that, in fact) even if the Oxford comma is evidently not wrong. I often use it myself. But only when I write English, of course.

it's fun to not rely on someone's disposition over using proper grammar, when reading someone's thoughts or opinions.

i had no idea this was called the oxford comma. cool to know. i've always thought that's just how you set the comma when listing more than three things.
