That seems a bit exaggerated.. That's 12500 new words a month.. An average of 2.5 new words of a day.

Im not implying that. Im just saying that they compose such a small minority of the population that coming up with a counterpart to their own orientation is a little ridiculous. I couldnt come up with a kinder comparison, everything that effects that small a portion of the population is generally bad.

would you really have a problem with that? is it because learning new words is hard?
its just a more specific way of defining something. there's nothing wrong with having an advanced, specific vocabulary

Is Kris Jenner a lesbian now?
That's a good question. I'm gonna say that Kris is straight, that Bruce Jenner was just a very effective drag king persona and therefore a "trap".

Those words already accurately describe what cisgender is trying to express. Sexual orientation is also quite varied and enough of the population is affected to warrant those types of designations.

Hmm, interesting way to explain that.
I feel that cisgender has it's place in the dictionary, though I can probably guarantee I personally will never use it.

Well, I don't identify as cisgender. I identify as normal.
If anyone calls me cisgender, or "cis," I will be forced to assume they're prejudiced assholes for not calling me normal, which is what I am in this context.

Trust me the odds that I ever use it are pretty much as great as you escaping from a black hole event horizon but if it makes my trans friends feel good I don't give a fuck. It is harmless.

The terms “cis” and “trans” are from Latin, in which cis means "on this side" and trans means "on the other side" or "across".

Yeah. but that has nothing to do with whether it deserves a spot in the dictionary or not
Merriam-Webster has entries for 'Cunt' and 'Faggot' as well as many other "fuck you" eliciting terms.
nobody cares about your feelings. if the word cisgender offends you, dont use it. write a blog about how offensive it is. do whatever you want it is still a word, with a use. so people will use it.

Sorry, I fucked up. It's 4,000 new words that are added to the dictionary each year on average. The average English speaker knows about 50,000 words. It was somewhere between 90 and 150,000 words that were created in the 20th century.
