40W CFL 6400K ... and 200W?!
    #15664882 -

Look, here's a 40W CFL with a light spectrum of 6400k I can buy locally.

18 EUR though, but 40W CFL should give off very intense light.

I don't know what to think. Can I use it? Is there a point buying that bright light?

Jesus Christ. Here's a 200W one too. Huh?

Didn't know they make them so powerful.

I wonder if it's going to be beneficial using these for mushrooms too.

I've been only using 23W CFL's so far.

Can you have to much light? I have a 4'x 2', 8 bulb 6500k, 432 watts at 40,000 lumen's light. My fruiting chamber is 4'x3'. Is this to much light for a small room?

That's a bit extreme for mushrooms....

But if you want to sell it let me know LOL... I could use it for something different

Thats exactly why I got it. LOL I just figured I would try it with mushrooms. It does allow me to turn just 2 bulbs on for half the power. Another benefit is, that it heats up my room to about 74-78d  degrees, without the use of a heater. So I just have to use the heater a few hrs, when light is off. To openning poster, sry not trying to hijack your thread. To OP, do you happen to know what the lumens of the bulb you was looking at are?

It doesn't show lumens on that page unfortunately.

The only thing can find out about light as far as related to mushroom growing is a 12-12 schedule and 6500k temp. No lumens, or watts per sq.ft of your fruiting chamber. Even indirect sun light, is a powerful thing. Im just wondering if there is an optimal light conditions to fruit in.  Will a 10watt 6500k 1000 lumens do as well as a 40watt 6500k 4000 lumens? What is the optimal light conditions? Can anyone help?

The 40 watt CFL will enable a grower to have it set slightly farther back, so one bulb can supply two or more terrariums.  A 2 lamp, 4 foot fluorescent fixture can be hung vertically to light each shelf of a mini-greenhouse.

There is no such thing as too much light, but there's a point of diminishing returns, and it varies by species.  Cubes benefit greatly from bright light, while Oyster(P ostreatus) mushrooms need as much light as most plants, but King oyster is usually grown in near darkness to encourage fat stems and tiny caps.

Growers need to experiment to find the sweet spot for their conditions.
