Russula brevipes mistaken for Matsutake

Not a proper ID request, been hunting all day and I'm tired(Please don't shoot me).

Found near river in low elevation hard woods. Buried almost completely underground. White with some brown in middle. Pretty much just want to know if it is Matsutake. . .

Nope, Russula brevipes or similar Russula species.

Matsutake that I've seen are in sandy soils and just barely make their way above ground.  They have a fascinating aroma too. 
Even these were well hidden under sugar pine debris.
