Doug Stanhope - "No Refunds" * 2

Does anyone else think Doug Stanhope's stand up special "No Refunds" from 2007 is a classic?  I wasn't even a fan of his before I saw it.  I was ready to join the Stanhope movement after watching it.  It's the closest thing to a modern day Bill Hicks or George Carlin.  I love it so much.

Huge Stanhope fan here, but I have to admit, I don't care for comparisons. I think Dr Doug has definitely carved his own niche in the history of stand-up comedy. He's already many comedians "favourite comedian" (and has been for many years), but he's happy to remain on the fringes of stardom. His last interview on WTF ( if you haven't heard about it, it's comedy nerd nirvana: http://www.wtfpod.com/) is an interesting listen, and I'll leave it at that. If you want to see the real Stanhope classic, look up "The Austin Incident" which you can find on youtube. The audio sucks, but it's stand-up at it's most chaotic and unpredictable best and an incredible display of stage craft and control of an on the edge, volatile audience.

Oh and "Deadbeat Hero" is another classic, as is "Word of Mouth". "Burning the Bridge to Nowhere", the "Eddie" episode of  "Louie" on FX...I could go on, but enjoy it all, and most importantly, die laughing.

Oh no, I'm not really comparing him to Hicks and Carlin as far as his style goes.  I'm saying that he's very socially liberal and rails against religion, nationalism, the drug war and all sorts of issues that I completely agree with.  He's a conscious comedian is all I'm saying.  Thanks for the link.  I'll check it out.  Here's a few more links for the rest of you who liked the first video.

Seen most of his work on youtube. Such a brilliant yet hilarious guy. He makes the average person think alot while laughing.
