Money matters indeed.
    #15081894 -

Watch this film if you get the chance. It is very well put together, and really puts a lot into perspective.

It is a shame... the more you know, hey?

But the good news is these mindless fucks will see the collapse of everything they are about, in their lifetime. The earth will heal once all unsustainable practises are exhausted and hopefully society will transition into a new age. Then the emotional healing of our race can begin.

Its fair enough to laugh at the futility of trying to better the world. When I look around at the stupidity and ignorance, I laugh too. However I didn't suggest people were going to get up and change anything... rather, at some point today's way of life will physically become impossible to sustain. Come this moment in time, humans will have no option but to change.

I agree with this last post but when that happens humans will not have emotionally evolved in all likelyhood.  Evolution takes lots of time for that.  If you look at human history you will see the same emotional  dysfunctional dramas taking place all throughout. Nothing much has changed now and I can't see it happening in our future as far as I can pretend to see into it.

When the pressure is off we'll go back to business as usual.

If someone wants to start first throwing their money away, they can send it to me I'll make sure it ends up at the bank :yesnod:

Its a very lofty goal but... The survivors of the worldwide holocaust will build a new system from the ruins. I don't see such a fundamental change happening in a relatively intact society.

And those beautiful spherical cities.. I doubt they will end up housing 7 billion of us. We have to go through the bottleneck, either we control the population or mother nature does it the hard way.

I wouldnt say history is an accurate prediction of the future... sure you can use trends to have an idea of how people behave... but only in the confines of the same system. Technology today is at the point where we can produce an abundance of necessary resources. And not to mention, the information revolution has equipped the masses with access to all the knowledge in the world.

You could say the ball park HAS evolved... but we are playing the same game. And once the game gets tired, or just cannot go on (as in.. we actually run out of oil...) then I think its fair to say over time humanity will change.

You alluded to human nature as being some kind of definite, rigid code... as if we are "programmed" to do everything because its in our nature.  But I agree with the position explained in the video... we are inherently decent, it is our environment and the state of society that influences our behaviour. That is why I think humanity will transition.. rather than have some sudden revolution in behaviour. But this wont happen while the march of consumerism trundles on.

Also, our emotional evolution has nothing to do with genetics. Our emotional paradigm, if you like, is shaped by our current environment and how we were raised.... Our personalities become rigid... but are susceptible to change given the right conditions.

Did you watch the video.? The ending, is a bit idealist and optimistic, but not beyond reach i would say.

I have the same feelings. It would be pretty cool if everyone threw away there money.
I don't see that happening until its too late anyway, at least for  most of the race.

Technology today is at the point where we can produce an abundance of necessary resources.

How so?  Maybe for the rich few in first world countries.  Greed will always limit fair distribution anyway. Technology will not save us imo but will actually help with the demise in the end. Take a good look at the whole world conditions now, not just your privileged back yard.  War, hate, greed, etc. on epic scales.  Where's all this enlightenment that's going to change the tide of things? Go to Iraq and live there for a year and report back on human emotional evolution.

Seriously, I wish I believed all that and I did for awhile when young but I've seen the world deteriorate imo over my 58 years.  The shits really going to hit the wall one day and then you will see how people react emotionally in this country.

Go ahead and hope for the best but prepare for the worst.  History is a very good indication of what will happen imo. Human history is not long and we have not really changed.

Did you watch the film or not... just seems like you are spewing the hackneyed pessimistic rhetoric which I have heard before.

I do not have a "privileged back yard." I have always lived in poky social developments. Currently I have no home, but am lucky enough to have places to go. If I did own my own property I would like to think I could do a lot more with it than most.

If you look at agricultural technology and energy technology, building technology, mass production, and so on... you would have to agree we are capable of producing abundance for all. Unfortunately the current system promotes waste and practises which only have the interest of profit in mind.

If human history accurately predicts the future than why do we no longer have slavery, monarchy, or burn people at the stake for having mental disorders?

Either way, my point was not that the whole world is suddenly going to wake up and live in a new way. On the contrary, I agree people will not change. But at some point there will be no choice in the matter.

Watch the video, comment on the video.

We're getting old Icelander

The moment I saw the end scene I was like "awwww beautiful". Second thought is "the Zeitgeist movement is conditioning idialistic people to part with their money for a better world" I then thought of merchandizing and other more sinister get rich quick schemes that could be hiding behind the idealism of the Zeitgeist movement.

ya, we're getting old..

Quote:

You actually CAN throw your money away TODAY and not be a self-defeating bell end doing it.
In fact, I HAVE DONE JUST THAT.

Over the past years I have put the majority of my surplus savings into gold and particularly silver.

Gold and Silver are outside the Rotschild International Banking Cartel dollar/euro/yen money game. Gold and silver are not debt, they are ownership, they are freedom of inflation. They ARE dwindling finite resources in increasing demand (particularly silver)

Instead of bills of money, I have ounces of silver and gold, independent of all the scheming, the fraud the injustices connected to money.

And guess what: If I were to exchange my metals for paper today, I would have almost three times as much paper as I put in.

But why? Especially as I'm convinced the $40 silver we see now will soon be $80 silver, $100, or more.

Silver may become "the new gold" fetching prices in then hundreds of dollars. Add inflation, thousands, millions, wheelbarrows of worthless fiat paper.

With paper growing increasingly worthless why hold paper? When I cash in I want stuff thats worth something.

Go out and spend less than $20 on a 50lbs bag of rice. Keeps for 3 years. Keeps you alive, if you really have to do it, for a month if you go broke. Get some canned meat, fish. Spaghetti. Dried beans.

If you think the Zeitgeist scenario is realistic then there's going to be one hell of a bumpy ride in just the few years from now.

Tell your wife about peak oil and the upcoming economic crisis, then when she agrees to Prepare, roll a few kegs of beer into your basement :awesomenod:

If every week you eat "from the reserves" for a day, not only will you save considerable money, but you can keep fresh a rather large stockpile of food.

We live in a la la land of false promises and unfounded economic optimism. It can all go to hell REAL FAST.

Oh we have more slaves than ever imo.  Now we call them wage slaves and now we just put people in the nut house or numb them out with drugs.  We have a better facade and that's about all imo.

No I'm not going to watch your vid. I've already watched dozens like it.  And you are more than welcome do discount all my comments due to that. I care not.

You better be holding that gold and silver physically or you're sol imo.

I've investing in holding food, ammo, guns, alcohol, comfort items like cigarettes and candy.  This is true wealth my friend.

I didn't think you had, because you have don't seem to understand the context of anything I say.

Wage slaves= not slavery.
Mental health care= not burning at the stake.
Sum of above= Societal change over time. (only a couple of examples)

Explain to me this "freedom" you feel to posess. The whole world is a plantation now.

Working ever harder, faster, to meet a quotum thats ever higher to buy food that gets more expensive and the impossible mortgage on e house that isnt your own and *spits* tuition debts for a college degree everyone has for which you have been taught things now already mostly obsolete while machines are taking over your jobs.

Who needs a whip when you can bitchslap your slaves into submission with the prospect of abysmal poverty in a society that absolutely doesnt care for them, where going to a doctor is becoming a rich mans privilege and the prisons are filling up with political prisoners of the drug war and prisons are registered at the stock exchanges as profitable businesses.

A prison planet of forced laborers who's entire lives can be dispatched quite easily if Massa feels you're being lazy or uppity.
