Which brand for computer monitor?

opinions please

I want 1080/at least 21.5" with led backlight

Sumsung is clearly more expensive than others.  Are other brands like Gateway, Asus, bad.  Does Acer really make terrible panels?

I'm used to a 3 year old 20' sumsung and I don't want anything not as good as it.

if i was you id wait a bit longer if you can.  All these tv's out are 3d ready yet i havn't seen any pc monitors that are...really sketchy.  I guess they just assume everyone will buy nvidia's 3d crap or something i dunno its weird tho i have a feeling there waiting to screw everyone like they did with hdtv's

Just because something isnt overpriced doesnt mean its not good. Those monitors that have 1,000,000,000:1  colors blah blah dont fucking matter because NO COMPUTER PROGRAMS UTILIZE THEM. developers dont go out of their way to make their product compatible with technology that will be forgotten about in a year or two.

I have a nice 18ish acer that is nice too but not good for a primary monitor

Actually they are out.  Asus and sumsung and lots of others already had 120hz.  There selling sumsung tv/monitors w 3d glasses for redonkulous prices right now.  Now way i'm paying 600$ just to see words fly out of my screen.

I remember when we got a tv we crossed of sumsung right away cuz they seemed over priced, we found a cheap lg that was just as good.

oh wow they finally did come out, and yah some crazy prices.  id pick u one off this list so you can be future proof, looks like 3 or 4 are reasonbly priced

EDIT: nvm link doesn't work, use the link you posted, while viewing there lcd monitors/all of them, just type 3d into the search are left side should show about 8 monitors

really your best bet is reviews off the site, overall my main concern would be refresh rates  the one i use now is only 60hz and its annoying as fuck when i look away i see my wall moving n shit.  Next concern would prolly be contrast ratio, the darker it can get the better it will look and easier on the eyes.  but manufactors fudge on these things but w/e.  In other words i wouldn't look at brands to much myself, but more about the quality, does it look well made, do reviews reflect this, do the specs reflect it.

Theres nothing wrong with 60hz on an lcd screen(if you have a crt thats another story, you need atleast 75hz or your eyes will hurt).  120 is only good for frame doubleing.. something about 3d that needs twice as many frames, and I don't care about 3d at this point, I think its overrated, in fact i'll probably skip this technology altogether and get whatevers after it.

I know all the new lcd's are advertising high dynamic contrast ratios which don't really mean anything.  I will get a new led panel so its gonna say that its high, I don't care.  I'm not worried about the specs as much is how the actaully picture will be.  I guess I'll have to see in person the differences between brands.  I'm possive I'll be happy with sumsung or lg.  I just wish I knew more about.. say acer, and the next up.. view sonic & ASus cuz they got cheap ass screens(and the specs are just as good).
