So I'm going back to highschool

I graduated highschool back in '06..but I did my best to avoid any serious subjects such as vectors/calculus and physics.

I have a pretty good job at a newswire service that pays well..but I ultimately wanna get myself into a position where I can write my own paycheque or make at the very least 70-80k a year.

Plan is to get my math and physics and go through the union to become an industrial electrician. Here in Canada some guys pull in up to 100 G's a year. Unlike a lot of other manual labour skilled trades, electrical workers have to use quite a bit of brain power in order not to fry equipment/internal organs. It's kind of a fascinating line of work actually.

Any of you guys are lucky enough to work for yourself?

Yea...here those subjects are a part of the academic highschool carriculum.

I technically could go to college for the subjects but it would cost more money and my schedule is not that flexible. I'll be attending a "night school" type of a setting.

I got my GED way back like 12 years ago when I was only 10-15 credits from graduating. Ive always wondered if I could do a Billy Madison comeback and finish them up to graduate legit.

I would so roll up in a Firebird playing Extreme with the windows down with my leather jacket on

I have no experience in Canada with this, but there is a huge difference between most of the same classes between a high school and college version in the US.  Teachers at the high school level just don't have the training to take everything you need from the class.  Just my 2cents though.

What do you mean?  The subjects covered in high school are really quite basic, IME 95% of HS teachers are more than capable of teaching their respective subjects to a more than adequate level.

HS is a total joke.

they have different systems outside the US. I know it sounds weird as fuck when I read it too, those are college courses fasho here in the states

I did this same thing, taught myself calc, vectors and adv. functions over the course of about 2 months ( basics) now I consider myself quite proficient with calculus,


very rewarding as well

I'm reviewing my basic math right now...algebra and fractions and shit. My math was so bad I forgot how to do long division there for a while. :highdog:
