Highschool...

Anyone ever noticed...
Most people of "normal" or "average" intelligence usually say Highschool were the best days of their life...
Whereas a lot of doctors, scientists or "intellectuals" will tell you it's only gunna get better after High School.
It sure would suck to have a family with kids running around, taking anti-depressants and reminiscing about High School.
another pointless post yum yum eat it up

High school was alright, but if that's your peak, you're missing out. Life got way better after high school.

I thought high school kicked ass.. it was great time
I don't like to think of anything as the "best days of my life"..because that seems too damn depressing of a concept. That being said, I love my current situation attending college (despite commuting from home this year)
Sometimes I miss high school... it was a great experience
Your point about "smart people" not liking their high school experience is probably due to them being huge nerds and socially awkward geniuses

I had a shit time at high school, but it really has nothing to do with intelligence.

Depends on chance imo. I wouldn't equate high school to my favorite years -- rather, I am partial to memories of my entire childhood, including my high school career. It was truly a magical time where I got to experience this thing we call "life" with all its brand new and exhilarating, perplexing, happy, sad, and awe-inspiring events. The sheer novelty of experiencing something for the first time, and in my case having a family that traveled the world extensively and included me in these travels, coupled with the fact that I had little to no real responsibility (except for that which I made for myself through various projects and employment), was just freakin' awesome. Unless one has an unsporting or abusive family environment, or has to deal with the unfortunate reality of poverty, I don't see why anyone wouldn't love their childhood?
Sure life might be better, might get better, but any number of other wrenches could be thrown into the equation just as readily. I just don't think it's fair to equate intelligence to one's idealistic view of their childhood. I mean my parents gave me enormous amounts of independence beginning at a very young age, and that coupled with the fact that all I had to do was go to a public school, made for an absolute fuckload of time for pure fun and adventure. In many ways, I was more free then, than I am now. These days I still get to have fun, and of course being of greater age I can finally buy a beer legally (but that didn't really matter since I had fake ID's and older family members who'd let me drink since I'd first had an interest)... but in the midst of these adult privileges, we're also faced with adult responsibility including the management of finances, maintenance of physical products and relationships, and perhaps the most shocking thing every human must endure at some point in their life; the harsh realization that the world is not the idealistic and wonderful place that was once seen through the eyes of a child. It can indeed still be very wonderful, but most certainly not the same.
Innocence is bliss .. and change is a good thing!

I loved High School and still miss it and I'm Evil Super Villain Smart. It was a simpler time with zero stress for me, all I really had to worry about was how to get booze on the weekends.
I'm not saying University sucked or anything I was a social dynamo there everyone wanted to get crunk with me. But the educational system turned me off and made me angry.
Now I'm moving to one of the most beautiful places in the world working for one of the largest banks in the world and going to be making mad chedda. And I still reminisce about HS with my pals.

Yep, I'm with you, Hogan. (I wish I could say 'I'm with Hogan' more often eheh)
They were simple times, and I didn't have to try at anything. It was awesome. I wasn't a social dynamo like you were in college or anything, but I had a good group of friends, and saving my lunch money to buy pot was the most stressful thing I had to deal with.

Although, in keeping with the hypothesis that below/average intelligence may play a role in persons who hail their high school days as their best.. I would suggest that this could be in direct correlation to my monologue above with respect to the requisite of responsibility that comes with greater age. That is, one of less intelligence may be less inclined to work due to their own cognitive limitations in conjunction with the social implications of the jobs available to them, as well as the fact that they may have to exert a greater amount of physical labor to maintain an appropriate living standard than that of someone with greater intelligence who can find ways to "better work the system". Since these people of comparatively lower intelligence may not be able to gather monetary resources as effectively as someone of higher intelligence, the burden of "adult responsibility" then becomes that much worse for them, and hence they look fondly upon days past when their responsibility was relatively minimal.
Just a thought..

Highschool was okay. I use to ditch a lot and steal from stores. That was more fun.

I never said anything about those people who considered life to get "better" after highschool actually hating their High School experience, just that they seem to think what comes next was far more exciting, this might be attributed to the fact that a good majority of this said populace attends college...

> I use to ditch a lot
Man, I ditched so much that I had to make up fake attendance reports for my parents, that still showed about 25 classes missed per quarter, considerably better than the 100 or so that I'd truly ditched in any given quarter (hope my mom ain't reading this, if she is, you mom!). Thank god for crafty penmanship!.. then towards the end of my third year of high school one of the seniors from the class above me had filed a lawsuit against our district regarding a provision that should allow legal adults of 18 years or older the ability to sign themselves out. The school didn't want to go to court so they caved and by then I was just turning 18 so it made things that much easier

Only time I liked high school was if I was stoned. But I do miss being around all my friends at the same time.
