You guys keep giving me good classics..or just plain good scary movies. I don't want good...I want frightening! No classics...no new movies that pay tribute to old ones...I want something fucking scary! Thats what horror is supposed to do...and judging by the replies in here...the genre could use some work in the scary department.

I loved grindhouse...but in no way are those scary. And I liked deathproof much more than planet terror. That was one of the coolest car chases I've ever seen. But don't get me wrong..I enjoyed planet terror very much. Both films are a must see...

in todays world reality is much scarier then any movie could ever be

so maybe your looking for a good post apocolyptic pic? children of men was amazing as that

but not scary really(in fact its got a very spirtual/religious backbone)

hmm thats tough man...theres movies that scared me as a kid(candyman, predator 2(lol), ummm hellraiser for sure)

but because I scared myself so much as a kid with these movies they actually comfort me these days and give me a sense of nostalgia and so I mean a truely scary movie is not easily found in todays desensitized world

I found the devils rejects to be truely creepy(and slightly scary) first time around but I was also in withdrawl first time I watched it

There is an old 80's flick called "MANIAC" Tom Savini does the special effects,"The Devils Rejects" unnerved me.
"Driller Killer" an old 80's punk flick,worth a look.

Check out Haute Tension (High Tension). It is definitely pretty scary and very gorey. If you are in the mood to be frightened and freaked out, this would be a good choice IMO.
