Thanks:)

I just got finished watching Shrooms. I don't really watch movies (cuz I think they're stupid) but I liked it. Nice twist at the end. I also liked 1408 and The Grudge II.

I read pet cemetery...that shit was damn scary! I saw the movie when I was really young...that also scared me. I rewatched it after reading the book...heh, it was alright...not the same effect as reading the story or seeing the film when I was young.
I ended up watching Eastern Promises...which was actually really fucking good. The Thing will be my next blockbuster rental.

I know they're mainstream but the first Hellraiser along with the first Nightmare on Elm Street films are classic "scary" good stuff. I'm sure the "real horror buffs" would recommend some Italian film from the 70's or something but those aren't scary.
I can't believe you people actually like Signs. The last third of it is like a really bad episode of the X-files made for a church congregation.

Yeah it's a good film.
I don't get scared by films, 'The Hills have Eyes' was pretty hard hitting though. I haven't seen anything worse than that in awhile.

I'm not sure why signs got so much shit. I thought it was one of the best modern alien movies made... and it still creeps me out when I watch it.
and on the horror movies: I like horror movies that actually scare me. The classics are good when I'm in the right mood...but what I need is something frightening.
I saw "one missed call" today. As bad as it was...I was happy to report that it creeped me out and stayed with me after the show. I forgot how fun it was to actually be scared after a movie...and this movie gave me a very small taste of that. Now I have this urge to scare the shit out of myself.

How about the fact that the aliens are hurt by water and what do they do? They invade a planet that is 80% water!

wtf scary movies and not ONE of you mention GRIND FUCKIN HOUSE!!!!
I just got around to watchin these movies over the past few days(oddly enough I had to got them through limewire...couldn't find torrents with enough peers/seeds online) anyways talk about amazing
after watchin these amazing movies I went over to rottentomatoes.com to check out what the critics thought and while it has an overall 81% almost all the reviewers miss the point IMHO...every single one of them I read seemed to get caught up on which movie was better...some liked planet terror so much that they seemed dissappointed when tarantino's slower(but EQUALLY good Death proof starts) I can sorta understand tho...planet terror is so good at catchin the feel and pokin fun while paying tribute to the campiness of the cheap movies of late that you kinda expect tarantino to come out swinging with the same kinda thing and when the pace is slowed RIGHT down for a movie which relys more on mood and dialogue(what the fuck do you expect from tarantino tho?) this disappointed some who were pumped up for more of the same
and then theres thos who almost insult planet terror for cathin the feel as well as it does and being so perfectly what it sets out to be that they claim it to rely on this and be nothing more than a cheap explotation movie rather than the GOOD movie that Death proof is
truth is they are both amazingly good and should be judged as a pair of great movies released together to capture the feel of old more then either could on their own
tarantino makes blatant references to some oldies(which I admittedly have not seen) and the reviewers are soo fuckin quick to point this out as if to be experts of the genre(when in actuality they are simply pointing out what tarantino makes clear in a few parts of his movie through dialogue) the way he fits it all together is truely genius and theres a few lines of dialogue that offer a double meaning if you can pick up on it(I Love lil shit like that to make watchin a movie more then once truely worth it) no movie will ever match fight club in that department tho
anyways there are some VERY obvious influences from more recent movies which should TRUELY be considered the movies that launched these 70's horror homages but none of the reviewers seem to pick up on that
and thats why you can't judge a movie based on reviews(or at least part of the reason) content often flys over the reviewers head and what leaves one audience member smilely knowingly enjoying the lil touches leaves the guy next to him confused and probably somewhat embarrassed for not getting it
I don't think you have to get it to enjoy either of these movies expecially first go around tho
some of the best movies released of late(too bad I was so late in seeing them :P)
