Canned salmon?

Um, I've never bought canned salmon before. I just opened a can, and there is still lots of skin and what look like vertebrae...is it supposed to be like this? Have I just been spoiled by tuna, or should I be grossed out?

It's normal.
It's not like tuna in that it tends to have a lot of that stuff; but it's been thoroughly cooked and the spine stuff will have a little crunch to it but it's fine.
A lot of people make salmon patties out of it and fry it and that way it is much less noticeable.

Get a good salmon patty recipe. The bones are so soft you can eat them no problem. I have been eating this on and off for the last 30+ years. SALMON PATTIES FTW! I have some in my cabinet now and was just thinking of when I was going to eat it.

Yeah...I'm about half way through it right now. The bones definitely have an interesting texture. Haha. I feel like they should be really hard, but then they just kind of smoosh/crunch....interesting. Thanks for the responses
