Why im selling all my silver...
    #14654852 -

I bought silver at 15$ an ounce, so made a pretty sweet ride this far. I came up with a theory of my own though, and it goes as following :

1. Despite of what the rumours tell you, nobody can tell the future and say that silver will be a 100$ next year or whatever they try to make you believe.

2. The powers that be would never let silver become too important a substance.

3. Because the high price of silver, a lot of antique silver is being melted everyday. Enormous amounts. Even high priced, historic pieces of beautiful silver end up melted into ingots.

So, there will be a shortage of antique silver after the world economy will climb from this crisis (though nobody knows when this crisis will finish, there is not a lot of doubt in my mind that this will surely happen). Also, of course antique will always holds its nominal silver value, in case you have to sell before the crisis ended, and silver prices probably still will be high anyway. After the crisis the silver price could drop a whole end again, but you have silver pieces of art, wanted by the rich who will be willing to pay the full buck for it.

So, i started small, selling a few kilo's of silver and searched yard sales etc. for silver cuttlery, small spoons and those kind of nimbits. But now im just after the most beautiful pieces i can find on the market, though expensive, these are the pieces rich people will be looking for as soon as they willbe able to build up capital again.

I know these pieces are very expensive, so this post is namely for people who made a nice profit with silver already and dont know what to do with it now.

If anybody want to see the start of my collection, let me know and ill post a picture here!

oh wow... in 2009 I bought $500 face value bag of silver for $5,300 and I checked the site I got it from and it's at $12,000 for the same bag. Silver prices went up that much for real? I could sell my bag at that huge of a gain?

You missed it when it was over $15,000
No I'm not lying, you missed that. Its gonna be there again pretty soon I think.

Pretty awesome that you ignored the naysayers and bought that bag of silver no? You are SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in the green!

You dared, you won, its gonna be a lot better.
$7000. In less than 2 years. You could go to Africa on safari, then on the plane to China, see the forbidden city and all that good shit, come home, throw a $1,000 party for your friends and not have lost a single dollar.

Awesome no? All cause you dared to be bold.

You didnt have to work for it, crunch numbers, investigate stocks, do risky trading, it just sat there in a bag, you check it and aha! 7,000 dollars made. Its a have-or-have-not game.

Making money off of investments isn't like getting free money.  You have to take risk to make that money and there are no guarantees you'll make money.  You could just as easily lose it.  There were people, myself included, that bought silver at $17 an ounce and then saw it drop to $12 an ounce.  I waited the drop out, but it was a slow climb back up.

Anyways, I had a target of 10% of my wealth in precious metals, but due to the surge of gold/silver prices lately, I'm closer to 16%.  I was thinking about dumping some to correct that, as I could use a little extra money right now for a different expenditure.

After all, they do say buy low, sell high, don't they?

If you were aiming for 10%, had 16%, needed cash, and were looking at some good spot prices, i'd unload your extra 6%.  fuck it, maybe just 4% and keep it at 12% just incase prices continue to rise

can't hurt to take some gains (as of right now, you got nothin but a pile of elements).  especially if you can think of some good ways to use the money.

I actually just checked my spreadsheet and PMs are only 14% of my portfolio.  Probably changed due to the large amounts of money I've been dumping into real-estate, large stocks, small stocks, bonds, etc., as of late.  But I'm still thinking about freeing up some of that and turning it into cash.  I'm just a little gun-shy cuz I unloaded a bunch in August just before the surge in prices.  I made 140% on my silver and 65% on my gold investments, but my $$$ gains could've been much bigger had I not sold back then.  I'd hate to miss out on another surge.

Silver will continue to rise...

A primary reason is that Obamabots/bankers have made our dollar an international joke.

QE 3 (Weimar Solution) is now proceeding....

Your dollars you get from selling silver now should immediately be invested in beans, bandages, and bullets.

Yeah wiccan its a pretty sweet deal. Actually, around a month ago i really hit the jackpot, im always hunting silver on secondhand websites and i saw some nice stuff for sale, but a bad quality picture so i wasnt sure about it. I didnt have time to check it out because work, so i teached the wife a little about silverstamps and send her out. She comes back with a full bag of old dutch marked silver, with even pieces from start of 19th century! She even managed to get 100 euro from the asking price, because she 'wasnt sure', so she paid 200 euro for 2.4 kg. of silver, mostly 835/1000. The sellers sold all their stuff to travel the world and this was just 'junk from granma'.

Goes to show that there are still lots of sweet deals to make, if your willing to put time and effort in it

Yeah crazy huh, in holland those bargains wouldnt be found anymore i guess, but here in belgium the people still have a far less conception of the value of silver. Also not many people looking for it, just annoyed by it because they have to polish it so much. In the summer there are garage sales 'rommelmarkten' every weekend. I try to go to most of them, almost always making some money on silver napkin rings, cutlery or whatnot, that is sold for only a fraction of the silver value. I musr say i hate living in belgium but this makes it a bit worthwile

So its true what they say about Belgians..
You have a lot of silverware :yesnod:

Sounds like you're making a killing there, may your paycheck be able to keep up with the opportunities you find

Keep up your silver streak and the world opens up for you. Ifg opportunities are thatr plentiful, you might sell some stuff you bought way under spot to finance future purchases.

Also, the thing you're in would do VERY well on international eBay. European silver antiques would do really well in the USA, Japan and elsewhere. Its a double whammy: European antiques AND Silver.

Take that silverware you posted a pic of.. that would do REALLY well with classy rich families abroad.

Funny that you mention that wiccan, i had that exact same thought this week, that it would probably be a lot more profitable to sell in Japan.

3 weeks ago there was a major 'rommelmarkt' in the beautiful city of Lille, ill post a pic tommorow of my finds there.

Okay here are the finds from Lille, it was a 2 day fair, really crazy crammed with frenchies, and although i only came like in the afternoon i still managed to find some goodies

The indian cup is actually a find im really proud of, i was with a good friend of mine, who also got interested in silver, and he assured me it couldnt be silver, it was really dirty and not any marks, as is usual with indian silver i later learned. I bought it for 8 euro, at home we tested it and its silver alright, around 110 grams. Then the french oysterfork, very nice, probably mid 19th century im guessing. Bought it for 5 euro, wish i would have found the whole set of them. Ivory handle inscripted with initials in ink. The miniature woodsawers is dutch, i still dont have a clue about how old. I know that the really old ones go for like 1000E but they were also mass produced in the 50s.
