I honestly don't know. I just saw the gif on the tubes somewhere and thought it was funny.

There are some pretty light skinned Mexicans who are native.

I was constantly being asked if I was from Mexico at my last job. Mostly because everybody there was, and I had a really dark tan since the job was outside.
But yeah, I'm a white guy, and I've been told that there are much whiter Mexicans out there who fair fine

I think the main thing is being able to fluently speak Spanish with a convincing accent.
I've got the accent, but my Spanish sucks.
Also, you don't want to appear wealthy. Basically you just want to blend in with the crowd as if you were a local.
