Best half-hour comedy shows by decade, 1950's-2000's
    #14083340 -

1950's - The Honeymooners. Jackie Gleason's talent need not be mentioned, and Art Carney is just plain fucking hilarious.

***What a trip. While writing this, I'm watching an old Twilight Zone episode involving a drunken department store Santa Claus. I recognized the Santa, but couldn't think of who it was. The closing credits have informed me it was Art Carney. Far out.

1960's - Green Acres. First man and wife in bed together on American TV. First humorous drug references. Poor Oliver was constantly tormented, both physically and psychologically. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get fucked with more on a TV series.

1970's - All in the Family. The first comedy to deal consistently with taboo subjects. Carroll O'Connor was nothing short of brilliant as Archie Bunker, especially as the character developed over the years. Possibly the best show ever.

1980's - Taxi. A superb ensemble cast and top-notch writers. Plus, Marilu Henner's large, natural, rounded breasts with nipples often protruding with great vigor.

1990's - The Simpsons. During the glory period - seasons 6 thru 12 or so - the quality was very impressive. I'm naming my next dog Groundskeeper Willie.

2000's - Family Guy. It pushes lame broadcast decency standards to the limit, yet is pleasingly subtle and witty at times. For sheer laughs per minute, this may be the king of the list.

Arrested Development gets an honorable mention, but sadly didn't last long enough to earn dynasty status. The quality of this show is simply off the charts.

What say you, fellow cognitive adventurers?

I think that life's too long to bother with suing Andrew fucking Lloyd Webber - Roger Waters, on an obvious ripoff of Echoes.

STOP calling me "Old Squaw"!!! - Eunice Douglas, to Chief Yellow Horse

2000's has to be either Trailer Park Boys, King of the Hill, Futurama, or South Park in its prime.  All 4 shows are far better than Family guy.

:bubbles:  :bobbyhill:  :randy2: and :goodnews: all pwn the Griffins.

Ill agree with The Simpsons for the '90's, but Seinfeld should at least be mentioned.  :costanza:
