New Droid X. Im really impressed

So my new droid came in the mail today and im really quite impressed.  The touch screen is flawless with almost no lag when typing. Apps are plentiful thanks to the android app market, and the web browser is blazing fast. All in all...

you need to install Handcent SMS.

it essentially replaces Android's stock sms system. makes it sooo much nicer.

dont forget to disable Android's native sms notifications. if you dont youll see two for each text.

i prefer free texts w/ google voice myself, not to mention i also have it set to email me my texts, and can send texts from my number through its website... though one does have to be willing to change their phone number to use that feature... have one last invite left... should anyone want it, feel free to PM me.

some of my favorite apps are launcherpro (totally customizable dock).. pro version has a lot of senseui widget knock offs... umm, beautiful widget... great clock, google voice, trillian beta (gotta go to website and d/l it) for instant messaging...  then if you plan to root your phone... rom manager, root explorer, setcpu, wireless tether, quadrant....  oh and urbanspoon, never run out of new restaurants to try...

i love my incredible, i bought an extended battery for it  a week or so ago... combined w/ a custom kernel and setcpu, have ran it for three days w/o charging w/ a fair amount of use

Btw...your gonna have to wait like 2 wks for it. All droid x models are mail order only, none of the stores carry them in stock...it is the gays.

has the X been rooted yet?  I will soon be getting an android based phone, and be moving over to verizon, but i want a phone that I can root and install any android ROM I want on there...as well as do other things...just wondering if anyone knows if it is, or even the droid 2?

Nope. I'm purchasing a certified refurbed. pretty much the ones people bought then brought back within the 30 days. 50$ cheaper and will be overnighted to me tomorrow. I'll get it monday.

whoops, thought i answered this... but yah, i bought the 2150 battery from verizon, it's a little bit bulkier (comes w/ its own back door for the battery) and the case no longer fits..  i've already dropped the phone like 5 feet onto cement w/o the case though, and it's fine.. i'm really not sure what purpose it serves, it was a decent idea for the iphone since its glass would shatter.. anyways, some japanese company sells 3500s and they're yet another millimeter bulky, which i was first concerned would be too much, but i kindah wish i had bought it, as it really doesn't bother me at all..  the company is... Seidio, and the people that have them are getting 4 and a half days or so w/o charging, pretty rad...

yes the X has been rooted with z4root and a few one touch root apps, and has a ton of custom roms for it.  check out liberty 1.5

Yea its definitely tops. I found one and fell in love so needed to order one of my own. Its perfect. I think we were made for each other. I can look past the very miniscule flaws. About the only thing it can't do is suck my dick. I can use it to find someone who will though so,  all is forgiven.

I don't like the screen on the droid x. The textile feel is not smooth when swiping and doesn't have very good viewing angles. The color gets quickly distorted when turning the phone or looking at the phone with a group. I also prefer a smaller screen, 4.3 is just too big for my preference. The touch machanics seem adequate. If i owed one, it would be impossible for me to use without rooting. The os it ships with is not that great.

The only real issue I have with this phone is the shitty headphone Jack constantly being loose. I've heard its a common issue and think it's absolutely ridiculous for this to be an issue on succh a device. I personally treat it as an mp3 player frequently and playing out of the speaker is weak as fuck. Plus when I'm watching movies I also think headphones are the way to go. Maybe I could replace it with something more sturdy. Depending on how you bought it,  it may have cost you up to 600 dollars,  only to come with one of the shittiest headphone jacks in history.
