The problem is not hunger anymore, its obesity.

Some are still starving.

The problem we give them food.... (makes no sense right)

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, TEACH a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Enough shipping food around.... Teach them how to create there own food.


Even if you in the middle of the desert... a greenhouse can still grow plants.

TEACH them how to make food, TEACH them how to make money that way we can stop donating both

if you feed starving people they make more babies which in turn will starve themselves. Thats the cruel cycle that is happening in allot of African countries. Most are experiencing huge increases in population.

You cant be serious about this right? How many plants do you think will survive the temperatures in a greenhouse in the middle of a desert? Let alone water consumption required. why not build a huge solar factory to power the air conditioning inside the greenhouse.

The proper capitalist way of thinking is opening McDonalds in the African savanna. let the starving people work there in turn give them money so they can buy the hamburgers at McDonalds.

The best thing that can be done is stop subsidizing the western farmers. That way African farmers have a honest chance on the world market this way they can earn money with their farms and create a stable economy.

there is no "proper" way of capitalist thinking, that's the problem, it affirms otherness, there is no unified or universal goal, instead it's just a cutthroat game of who can one up the "other" the best

So wait, McDonalds brilliant plan all those years was to give people money so they can eat their burgers?

Yeah, but what effect would that have on the western world? Subsidizing basically means we're all pitching in for some dudes to grow our crops. A stable economy in Africa would benefit more from a stable political situation in the region...like stop mass-murders and rapes first, get a government (come on Somalia wtf?) and get rid of blood-thirsty dictators who give a rats ass about the population.

It would have a bad effect in the western world because African farmers can grow crops far more cheaply than Western farmers. A drop in food prices is to be expected. Although it will have a downturn in western economy's since most farmers will turn bankrupt and we will be dependent on African farms thus a dramatic shift of power will occur. That is why it hasn't happened as of yet and probably never will.

the McDonalds example was just a joke btw.

By the way the over breeding in such countries is easily explained.

Here in the rich west we have pensions and social securities for our senior citizens. There they don't. The only way you can be sure to survive on older age is to have children to support you. Since child death is very high they must have lots of children in the hope some survive to support you.

I though we were talking about them not having enough food to EAT as opposed to not having enough food to SELL.  Unless you think money is a foodstuff.

Their economies are very stable.  Disastrous but stable.  Dictators will do that for you.

Come on.... We got the technology to grow plants on Mars if we truely wanted too.

Greenhouses in the desert are possible. And that  solar panel idea is brilliant ive been thinking it for years.

Use the desert sun to create enormous amount of energy! its not like the desert is overcrowed.

The problem is such regions are politically very unstable and often terrorized by rebels. Which will destroy any and all of those projects. Which also brings me to the point that there is enough food in Africa for everyone to eat. But because of political instabilities the poor infrastructure and the unfair market there is no way to distribute food and setup stable economies. Of course there are some African nations that do pretty well. Such as south Africa. And countries that DID very well. Like Zimbabwe. Which was the grain shed of Africa until Mugabe took over.
