upon death the entire ego structure is obliterated.

and since the ego is a transient paradigm to begin with, one that changes and morphs and grows or shrinks throughout time.. that particular chain of changing egoness which was built around a centralized identity structure would only exist within the timespan of it's existence

time continues for egos which are still undergoing change and participating in existence.. but remember that the ego is only an idea. it doesn't acatually exist in the world as an objective force; it is only an illusion -a mask.. which bits of the universe may use to confuse itself as an identity..

but the identity is never something that exists at all in the first place. we just assume we have the right to designate ourselves as separate from the rest of the universe simply because we have our own perspective of it
