Memory Problems?

I'm only 21 but often I have difficulty remember what I did yesterday and things from a week ago is usually completely foggy.

It's like I get lost in time.

Anyone else?

this is also the generation where everyone apparently has ADD....just work on some focus my friend.maybe some of the details are not that important to remember...or you have something else bugging your mind that is making it foggy

like others have said, whatever youre doing must not be significant enough to remember. if youre just going through a similar routine everyday, the brain wont/cant encode it all. you can only retain so much. no point retaining unnecessary information. and that would be especially so if you arent very aware of whats going on around you and just kind of allow yourself to live in a haze/in your own mind while letting it all pass you by.

I can't remember anything. If somebody tells me their name I'll usually forget it instantly. I can't remember anything else either. Oh well. It's all good.

same with me. everything sorta seems like it has its own little aura and theres lots of fuzziness, light vibration, and lag. kinda makes me feel a lot more spacey too. oh well...

ask everyone you know what they ate for dinner yesterday, or the day before. you'll notice a lot of people might not remember. it's normal that you don't remember everything, that would be too much.

You could do a lot of your things automatically, while thinking of other things. That's a good way not to remember either. try doing 1 thing at a time and structure your day more and see what happens.

forgetting someones name even right after being introduced is common....but I get the feeling you are exaggerating a bit by saying "everything"...if that is really the case,see a doctor.

Your capacity for memory may just not be as great as other people's.  You can have an exceptionally great short term memory and a terrible long term memory, or vise-versa.  Either way it's not correlated with intelligence so I'm not saying you're stupid or anything like that.

The brain is a lot like a muscle, if you don't exercise it, it will lose some of it's function.  If you want to increase your memory, do things on a daily basis that exercise it. Logic games are a great way to do this.

You can also take a supplement such as piracetam that has been shown to increase the function of memory, but the jury is still out on that one.
