Well you can currently do more than one if you put all the pics in a zip folder then upload the zip folder, but yea the other way would be convenient too...

This is a fairly common and reasonable request. Tl;dr - I'd like to add it, and probably eventually will, but there are some tricky technical challenges. Let me explain why it hasn't happened yet:

When you browse for a file to upload, the file selection window is implemented and controlled by your web browser. We have no way to override the default, which only allows you to select a single file at a time. The workaround is to use a Flash-based uploader, but that's kind of complicated to integrate into the current gallery script, especially since we also need to retain the old functionality for backwards-compatibility. I should probably revisit this though, since it's somewhat feasible.

The 20MB upload limit is there to work around an annoying aspect of PHP where you can't tell the size of a file until after it's been completely uploaded. So we can't reliably abort uploads which exceed an arbitrary size. Instead we have to set a global upload size limit at the server level, which is currently dictated by the maximum file attachment size for supporters. This is all necessary since people sometimes try to upload huge files (like 1GB or more), and if we allowed the entire transfer to complete before rejecting it, that could quickly put us over our bandwidth quota. I'm not entirely sure about a good solution to this one, there are a few possibilities but at the moment they're all too complicated or impractical for various reasons.

Hope that all makes sense and sorry it's not a simpler addition.
