I pray for a disaster * 1
    #13530636 -

Something huge that would seriously thin out like 90% of the population and get us all down to survivor skills. I think it would be awesome. Maybe even zombies. It would be fun to resort to the mountains with my shotgun and emergency kit type supplies, wait out the shit storm that society will face, and hike in to the city every now and then to raid houses and scavenge for food. Start all over with my garden and get back down to the basics.

Im currently stocking up on ammunition and water purification supplies just in hopes Ill get to use them someday...

Maynards a douche bag. I love the musical aspect. Very talented band, just wish he wasnt so "holier than thou". He treats people like shit because he thinks hes so smart, not to mention his fans are pretty ridiculous as well.

a disaster that would wipe out 90% of the population.

Basically giving you a 10% chance of survival.

I'm sure that after 90% of your friends and family are dead, and after you run out of ammo and are trapped like a fucking rat, you'll be begging for everything to be back the way it was.

And retreating to the mountains is a great idea.  Not only would the bears totally not eat your food, but winter would totally never come, making the temperature -20 degrees in addition to the ten feet of snow.  No, you'd certainly would never encounter that, and even if you did, you definitely wouldn't fucking freeze to death.

you're a stupid dick who would cry at the sight of a field of the undead that just dry smashed your girlfriend's shitbox.

Yeah, I was getting ready to ask if OP was so sure of surviving an apocalypse. I see this attitude a lot - kids eagerly anticipating a global disaster, as if they would come out on top. Ah, youth.

Indeed, the entire concept of wishing for such an event reeks of megalomania.

I like those odds. And nobody said I would live in the mountains year round. Its called survivor skills, not sit around and wait for death skills. I would have no problem killing you for a can of beans.

26. Not quite a kid. I was born and raised in the mountains. I hunt and have no problem taking care of myself in the wilderness. Being able to survive alone in the woods with completely nothing is one thing. Being prepared in an anything goes scenario is another story.

and everybody else would have no problem cannibalizing you after you've eaten the last can of beans in a hundred mile radius.

And I would have no problem doing the same

Lets think about this:

So obviously everybody cant kill everybody. There will be the dead, and the survivors. So what will be the deciding factor in who dies and who comes out on top? Age? Some old dude with a bad back carrying around his kids? Doubtful. Women and old people are dead in the first week. Little bastard kids arent really fit enough to survive these days, and have little knowledge of how to do so and are completely unprepared for the event anyway. Googling "how to survive" obviously wont work.

So that leaves me, with my water purification kits, a life of wilderness/hunting experience with my surplus of ammunition...against who? Most likely people like me. May the best man win...

Well, lets look at 2 possible causes of a global apocalypse and their effect on you.

1) Nuclear war - Even if you weren't directly in a strike zone, there would still be problems with residual radiation for decades to come, leading to some rather unpleasant health effects. And let's not forget the effects of nuclear winter, where all the gas and dust thrown up by the bombs (and the next possible nuclear war will be a doozy - make no mistake about that) causing a global cooling, so even if you survive the effects of residual radiation, the cooling effect may cause an ecological collapse

2) Pandemic disease - a disease that wipes out a goodly proportion of humanity would probably be highly infectious and easily transmissible. What makes you think you'd dodge this bullet? Even if you hightailed it to the wilderness, it could be carried by the wind.

And of course, with both scenarios, you'd have to worry about other humans who may want to eliminate you, either to lessen competition for food and resources or just for fun. People can be shits in general, and with no laws or anyone to enforce them, watch out.

So, even if you're well prepared, a planet-wide disaster will still effect you, probably negatively. Only a very lucky few would survive, if at all. So you see, you really don't want this.

You forgot natural disaster, also very possible. Nuclear fallout is gonna be all luck with who survives depending on location. Nothing I could do about that. Disease is also iffy, theres no rule that says its gonna be airborne. If not, zombie protocol and the greater my chances of survival.

gtfo to the woods. There is a fucking reason we built shit to live it. There may be issues with society, but fuck fighting tooth and nail everyday just to survive without anything we have now-music, drugs, better food, regular sex, and plenty of other stuff.

Life is better with the bullshit we have now. You can have all the skills in the world, but you have to sleep sometime.
