pelliculosa lookalikes?
    #13479029 -

I found patches of like 10 shrooms each and i think they are pelliculosa. Found in a clear cut and all the identification matches but I cant seem to get a spore print from them, also no bruising and the gills are just slightly more grey then most pics i see. What are some common look alikes (cant find this searching google -.-) and how can i get a better ID on these? no pics
whats the spore print color for P. pelliculosa?

The spore deposit should be purplish-brown, sounds like you found a Psathyrella species.

You may find better luck researching by the full name, Psilocybe pelliculosa.
Here's a page

There are several good reads.

Pelliculosas also have an incredibly obvious and very easy to remove gelatinous pellicle. They won't blue much anywhere other than around the edge of the cap. Spore color should be purple. If they come out black you most likely have a type of psathyrella.

I thought Psathyrella stopped fruiting before november? Do these have the seperatable layer too?

I can't tell where you are located, but here in the PNW Psathyrella are everywhere still.

That's a very weird statement.

I think you found Psathyrella, too. How does Psathyrella conopilus sound?

I also found a shroom with a flat whitish cap about 4-5 inches across with attached very purple gills, and white fibers loose on the stipe im wondering what this could be

I don't know. Could be a Stropharia. When are you going to start posting some pictures?

Psathyrella species lack a separable gelatinous pellicle, this is due to the structure of the pileipellis being a hymeniderm, this means that the hyphae and terminal cells that make up the surface of the cap are arranged perpendicular to the surface not parallel in which case the pileipellis is said to be some type of cutis as in the genus Psilocybe.
