I recently tried DLing a couple of PC games. I'm fairly adept at DLing music/video but for games I didn't have a clue. The two games I did DL were laced with viruses. Gave up after that.

I know you can use Steam etc, but I'm genuinely surprised there's no online portal for buying pc games online in the way that I can, say, use Itunes to DL music.

Weirdly, I've never really wanted to pirate computer games, purely because of the amount of effort some of the studios put into their games. I'm happy to pay a few coins for something that keeps me occupied for hours. I'm sure games are overpriced but I think less overpriced than digital video/music.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?

As gilesy mentioned before - you have to be really careful with torrents because they are a mind field of sorts, some will be 100% legit versions of the game, some will just be fake torrents packed with malicious virus's.

I've gotten some really nasty virus's from torrents that made methink i had to throw away my computer.

Be sure to check the comments on a torrent before downloading - and check the trackers to ensure they are legitimate trackers. Sometimes they will try to copy a real tracker and change the name slightly - i.e. changing demonoid the demonaid etc.

And most games nowadays come with serial keys that need online activation n stuff so most new games arent really great for downloading.

But i'd say get yourself a version of Unreal Tournament - 2004 was pretty awesome.

Also Need for speed Most wanted is a great car racing/modding game.
