dl'ing torrent PC games
    #13443464 -

i was thinking about dl'ing some games, but it seems like there are a few more steps and it also looks like it will take at least an hour. kinda gay... i was hoping it would be long the lines of dl'ing music.

Some games are click and play but most of them require you to mount them with programs like Daemon tools.
It seems more complicated than it is, but you can figure it out.

get a program like alcohol 120% where it can emulate the copy of the game then for most games all you do is get the serial which is included with the game or they include a serial generator to give you a fake one as well as the nocd file so you don't need the cd to play. Only download games with a lot of seeders and leechers who have checked the game out first to ensure you don't get a trojan or a virus.

Which games depends on what your computer has under the hood.
But yea it's pretty easy to learn how to use torrents.. most have instructions on how to install and come with a keygen.
You'll want WinRar and Daemon Tools Lite for sure though.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?

it is going to be a litt different from music as theres nothing to crack with music and you cant really complain as its free but its become alot safer and easier and with insructions they provide a blind monkey could install, not to mention the speed at which theese guys crack the games is a phenominal, look out for torrents with the name after like skidrow and razor, as to what games well thats up to what you like to play and as above what spec pc you got(3ghz prcessor,2 gig ram,512-1gb gfx card), assassins creed 2 was brilliant from start to finnish

power iso is what i use to mount, havnt used deamon for a while so dunno what its like these days, should do the job though

BTW Daemon tools lite is the best for installing a game from an ISO/Disk image.

It really is easy once you do it once or twice. Just always read the "readme.txt" or "readme.nfo"(open with notepad) file. It will give you directions on how to install the game with any necessary cracks or steps to avoid the copy protection.

I recently tried DLing a couple of PC games. I'm fairly adept at DLing music/video but for games I didn't have a clue. The two games I did DL were laced with viruses. Gave up after that.

I know you can use Steam etc, but I'm genuinely surprised there's no online portal for buying pc games online in the way that I can, say, use Itunes to DL music.

Weirdly, I've never really wanted to pirate computer games, purely because of the amount of effort some of the studios put into their games. I'm happy to pay a few coins for something that keeps me occupied for hours. I'm sure games are overpriced but I think less overpriced than digital video/music.

:hehehe:  didnt notice that... cant say i know who that guy is supposed to be though

one thing i forgot to mention is depending how good you antivirus prog is a lot of keygens and the like are gonna get picked up as viruses whats known as a false positive, they see it as a virus cos of the way its written and may even need to temporarily disable whilst running but ive had little to no trouble in the past 7 or so years of free gaming, splintercell double agent is a goodun too

Sometimes they do have viruses sometimes they don't and your scanner still fingers it as a virus.  Key gens tend to set off virus scanners so sometimes you just have to hope that there aren't any actual viruses and ignore all the warnings.

So basically if your scanner fingers the key gen and the key gen only as a virus then you're safe, but if there are multiple viruses or the key gen isn't the virus then you might want to delete everything and rescan.

If there is large seeder/leecher ratio chances are its safe because someone else has already checked it out but for the most part release groups like reloaded, skidrow, ect are safe because they uphold their reputation as being legit same thing for movies and music. The underground scene is ruled by reputation.

So let's see, you're worried about wasting an hour when the game you will download will ultimately waste all time you spend playing it...
