Unsecured Wifi

Cable man just recently cut off our cable at the pole...
Not because we didnt pay our bill or anything, but because i hooked it up to begin with...
Now im tapping into neighbors wifi...
How many of you guys out there do this?

Happened to me a couple days ago too

Thank god I can find a unsecured network 90% of the time

i did this for about 6 months at my last apartment. i think they noticed when i hooked up port forwarding for bittorrent through it.. :awesome:

My own internet has gone out a lot because the service provider sucks, so I've had to do it. The worst part is moving your computer around on occasion to find the connection again when it gets weak. One time I had to sit with my computer on the floor near the front door because that was the only place in my house I could get more than one bar.

Depending on where you live you can get into some serious shit logging onto someone elses wifi.

Not to mention if you are browsing for "questionable" activities you may end up being raided.

I think they would have a pretty hard time proving it was me, but that's with some understanding of networking. I skim my neighbor's packets all the time, his girl is into some freaky shit (or he's gay) or something.

Everyone has sort of caught on to securing wifi and breaking into someones seems like much to much work for me

cain and abel isn't really for cracking WEP, it's more for ARP injecting. It's a shame that program got so widespread, made it so easy a retard could do it.

It's quite possible to crack WEP with just packet tracing tools. WEP sends the password back and forth with the transmission (der itz enkrypterd).

WPA and WPA2 are virtually uncrackable. Brute force is the only method (e.g. trying every word in the dictionary). As long as someone isn't stupid enough to use a weak password like that, it would literally take years to crack it.

ARP injecting =/= packet sniffing. Similar, but much, much more to it. Learn about routing and such. I've taught network security classes. :strokebeard2:

I know what ARP injecting is. I'm just saying that you can crack WEP fairly easily even without a special tool. I know nothing about this Cain And Able tool though.
