Russula sanguinea
    #13313351 -

It rained all night and all morning, so I went for a walk in the rain!  Refreshing.
The bright blood red caught my eye as I had just started the trail.  Nice to see something jump out at you rather than the little nondescript brownies that grow everywhere.  Ponderosa pines and other pine are the landscape for these guys.  Floor was heavy with needles.
Cap is bright red in most, fading out or merely stained red in a few.  Slippery when wet, and red layer peels from the margin easily.  Flesh is white.
The gills are white in the young and turn creamier in the older, attached.
The stem is stained the same red of the caps and is plain.  Thick and filled.
The taste is sharp and hot.
Spore print on tin foil is white to cream for certain, best I can tell after two hours under the cup.  (It isn't dark anything.)

Anywho seems like a russula sanguinea to me.

I don't really know much about Russula species, but it does appear to be a Russula.

From what I've read, a lot of them are pretty difficult to identify down to species (there are some 'easier to identify' ones though).

But hopefully someone will be able to ID this for you.
Good luck:thumbup:
